How Many Ads Per Page? What is Your Experience?

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by EasyCash, Nov 5, 2008.

There has been discussion that 1 ad is better than 3 ads as it raises the value of the ads on your webpage.

    What is your experience?

The arguement would be that the more ads the more to choose from - therefore resulting in more clicks.

    The user has more choice.

One ad and one ad alone! Exception: When the page is larger then one screenpage, then a second ad below the fold is a good thing to have.

Increased CTR after removing the second ad above the fold.

That argument is as stupid as it can be. People might love to tell you, that they want to have choice, but once you give them choice, they'd rather have someone else choose for them. Rule of thumb: Whoever parrots political correct patters is usually also to lazy to make an educated decision (because s/he skips the education part).

Also, as an AdSense publisher, you do not want your visitors to choose from anything. You want them to click on the highest paying ad (which is the first ad in the first ad unit encountered in the HTML source). The more ads you put, the higher the chance, that the user will not click on that one. think about it: If you put 3 large rectangles, you get up to 12 slots, which means a 8.3% chance of the user clicking the right one. If s/he clicks at all, that is. Most people do not click anything on pages that are plastered with banners. Do you feel comfortable on such pages? I know, I don't.

Usually more ad units mean that most of the low paying ads will get the chance to appear. This is annoying because it will hurt the cpc. I would go for 2 ad units maximum.

Depends on your site structure, it will be easy for us to suggest you if you could give us the URL as well.

the high paying ads are usually promoted to fill up your ads block and thus low paying ads are not displayed on your site, but if you have too many ads units then the low paying ads unit will also manage to enter and thus your amount per click will drop!

So far i have seen that one big rectangle ads block in the starting of your article, covered by content, is the best way to increase your ctr and that also gives me better ecpm :)

If you have big pages better to use 3 add units.. google allow to use 3 adsense unit.. but i use 4 adsense unit in some pages... Because in my word press blog, i add the ad unit into side bar... The ads in side bar calculated as a different page... see my blog......

i think the target area is under header
so include a big rectangle there
    Less adds = more CPC

I also realize that if you have to many ads on the page you get less money per click!

I do have a question! If I have a banner ad is this bad? I keep it there just for design!
