Well Done America

I think America has done a REALLY great thing. It’s hard to imagine that racial segregation was still legal, and fairly normal, only a couple of decades ago, and today you have voted to make a black man the most powerful man in the world. This in itself is an inspiration to us all, I hope that even those who didn’t vote for Obama can be proud of this fact alone.

After whats happened to America’s reputation throughout the last 8 years I think your standing in the world just got a whole lot better. Perhaps the west as a whole will benefit from Obama as president.

Thank you America – now your hard work starts.

    Thanks, I voted!

And you're right, even people in America who didn't vote for Obama are already getting excited about him.

In New York City, uptown 125th street, people who supported Obama were so exciting last night. Some of them drive their car from street to street, block to block to express their feeling. But at the end, police office came to calm them down:D. My neighbor was quite and exciting in a nice way.

I believe we did a good job at this time. Now, we are all hope he can does a good job for us.:)

    Thank You!

It will be a great (and very unusual) feeling to be proud of our President on January 20th of 2009.

There are so many reasons to be pleased with the election. It was a rejection of lies & distortions. It was a rejection of right wing policies. And it was an affirmation that America can live up to it's promise.

They didn't vote for him because he was black or green or pink, merely because he was the better candidate and the more positive and enthusiastic one.

If you search obama on google video or youtube or go to cnn videos you'll see a lot of celebrating across the country. I've never seen anything like this, not after a presidential election.
IMO, it's going to be hard for Obama to be a good President while retaining the adulation of the masses. I hope he can do both.

I'm not being combative, but that's extremely far from the truth to be honest.

I had many first hand reports of blacks at the polls voting for Obama simply because he is, indeed, black. I'm not saying every black person voted that way, but anyone that denies the fact that many did vote for him because he's black are blind.

Needless to say, even as a conservative who is very nervous about such a liberal democrat being elected, I'm staying positive and wishing him the best.

Who knows, he very well could be the greatest thing to EVER happen to this country.

    Or, the worst.

    We don't know.

    Only time will tell.

I'm sure, for most people, part of their vote was because they wondered what it would be like to see a black guy as president. That's just honest.

Yeah, it's inspiring. I think you're right -- it's going to be difficult for Obama to not disappoint us based on this grand entrance. However, I wouldn't put it past him to pull it off.

It isn't the color of ones skin, it is what is inside that matters.

This would be a better way to write that sentence even if his supporters still won't admit what he himself admits. They are scared of the word but not scared of the deeds.

The Conservative media has stirred some republicans into a frenzy.

    "Obama is the Anti-Christ!"

"Obama is going to take away our first amendment rights and turn the US into a Socialist Repubic!"

Personally, I'm really proud of the USA today. I surely didn't think I'd see a black president in my lifetime. I know this doesn't mean racism doesn't exist any more but this does show how far we've come in such a relatively short period of time.

I have. And I'm one of the ones getting increased taxes on both the business and personal income tax front, but I do it with pride knowing we don't have a complete idiot running the country.

Haha.. for sure, first boat outta here.
