I think that LOG stat packages are often overstating the number of visitors because of several reasons (see below), I also think that much of the traffic you sent bounces without fully loading the page which means they wouldnt be recorded in the 3rd party package (as most tracking codes are loaded at the end of the code).

I think it would be better for everyone if you guarantee a number of hits (which could be lower then what you now offer) in 3rd party tracking like GA.

That being said, what referrer should I look for when looking at my logs (is it just traffic-network.net?) ?

Why do tracking services show a lower number of visitors than statistics recorded by log analyzers? The answer lies in the difference between unique visitor tracking and log analyzing. Log analyzers record all measurable activity, whereas tracking services distinguish between human activity and server activity.

Tracking service stats will show lower numbers than log analyzer stats. This is not because tracking services record fewer visitors. The reason is that tracking services are stricter in their definitions of a visitor. A tracking service should do its best to ensure that no visitor is recorded twice, and that only human clicks are counted as visits.

The reason that tracking services will report lower traffic numbers than log files is because good tracking services do not recognize the following factors as unique visits or human events:

* repeat unique visitors (after 24 hours)
* hits
* robot and spider traffic
* rotating IP numbers (i.e. AOL)

Equally important is the ability to distinguish how many unique visitors are visiting from either:

* the same ISP (Earthlink, At&t, Comcast, Cox, etc.)
* corporate firewalls, large organizations (Microsoft, IBM, Apple, etc.)

Otherwise all these users will be counted as the same visitor. This is a differentiation which can only be made by tracking cookies.

I bought 20k and I haven`t got any new member or even nobody search for any music on http://www.special-mp3.com anyway that I get 2000 unique visitors per day from megatraffix. Its crappy traffic but the price is good.

To illustrate; for my order: Megatraffix reports 3610 visitors so far while Google Analytics sees 452 visitors, with a boucerate of 98% that makes about 9 good visits so far, which comes down to about a 75 cents per qualified visitor. So the economics of that dont really work out when Stumbleupon sends qualified traffic for publishers for about 5 cents per visitor (with other benefits).

BUT, if you have CPM advertising & want to beef up your stats I would highly recommend this service as it is cheap AND easily managed.

Of course, if you add up the number of visits referred from these sites, you will know how much traffic he owe you. Especially, when your order finish, you may possibly chase for the insufficient traffics by showing that log.
