Hi, I wonder if submitting your sites to directories help and how heavy google sees this kind of linking? Does it build up authority if you anchor them? and does anyone know some good free directories? Thanks, Le Noob
Check the Directories - Solicitations & Announcements section of this forum. There should be lots of free directories there. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=65
Submitting to directories might not help a lot, unless they're niche directories that match your website's keyword. Even without being niche directories, every link counts, more or less, but it still counts. At least should help your website get indexed faster. The good part about directories is that they count as a 1-way link, and not as a link exchange (which also count as links, even if google doesn't weight them heavily)
Submissions to directories will definitely help you. But, be sure that content is good and your submitting in top directories,
Thanks for the quick reply. I saw your link about auto insurance, nice site! Do you have multiple income streams on the net?
Many Directories with high PR started charging. It is better to submit your sites to Directories as well.
Directory submissions can get you ranked for decent competition keywords but don't expect wonders for a competitive keyword. You should employ all form of link building for your website. Use vmoptions directory list or info.vilesilencer
Link building is waste of time, very difficult to get BL from dir if also no value. may be some payed directory will help
Well, I don't agree with those statements. Link building is not a waste of time Link building with directory submissions (including free ones) is not a waste of time either. Backlinks just from directories can still get a website PR2/3 and can also get it ranked for a low competition keyword. For high competition keyword, use them to diversify the link portfolio.
link building is pretty much one of the leading factors in natural rankings. thus rendering it not a waste of time.
I feel that directory submission still plays a role, just not as large a role as it once did. This might be helpful: http://www.fourthfloormarketing.com/2008/10/13/why-directory-submission-still-matters/
mass submitting to general directories not only doesn't help , it can (and most likely will) actually hurt
Well!! Dir Submission is still one of the best option to get one way links.... and is the part of all major SEO Campaigns.... It will definitely help you in regular caching and achieve good search engine ranking.. Though social bookmarking has overshadowed it.... it is still followed Sara
Hello, Directory submission is the best way to get one way link.It plays a important role for getting traffic.
I try to submit a few a week to PR3 or higher. And make sure to place in correct subject area. All of my top competitors enter them, so I have no choice.
