you do understand that your fear of dying doesn't support your belief, right? Just because you don't have the courage to contemplate the possibility that the universe doesn't revolve around you and your particular middle eastern death cult doesn't make your infantile invisible friend any more likely, it just makes you a coward afraid of facing reality.

you might as well be weeping in the fetal position and shouting "save me superman".

    Here's a pattern for you.

I AGREE WITH BOTH YOUR POINTS :D

Only thing is so long as he's not on a biblical crusade like GWB his Christianity is "tolerable" to me. I don't agree with it at ALL.

I also cling to my guns. I HATE gun laws. I believe so long as you're not a convicted felon you should be allowed to have all the small arms your house can contain!!

So you thought you had me on one place where I disagree with "the messiah". I gave ya 2!! :D

Seems like now is as good as time as any to explore the dictionary.

Join me as we learn about a word often used, but rarely understood.

Bigot - a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices ; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance

LMAO! So what you are saying is, you will reserve polite discontent (certainly not as harsh as others here, so I give you kudos for that) for all Christians, except for Obama? That's what I'm taking away. Is all of your family "atheist" or just you? Just curious.

This brings to mind another unique term:

Cognitive dissonance - is an uncomfortable feeling caused by holding two contradictory ideas simultaneously. The "ideas" or "cognitions" in question may include attitudes and beliefs, and also the awareness of one's behavior.

It's all just patterns to me :D

BTW, congrats on the win tonight. I know, I know, it's not over till it's over. I've been following the strategy needed for McCain to pull it off. While I'd love to hold out hope, it doesn't take Ray Charles to see that those crucial battle ground states that were part of that strategy are no longer within reach.

But then I guess I can't call them "warriors" when they're too cowardly to use their name ;)

Actually (though I sold it) I am the founder of AgnosticForums.com. I'm an agnostic. I am (obviously by my actions) anti-religion but not completely against the idea of God. To better explain..... I think that there is of course the possibility that all this was created by an intelligence. It almost seems it HAS TO have been doesn't it? However the God that Christians worship and the Allah that radical Islam will kill over is absurd to me. Especially the way they believe he still "watches" and "effects" our daily lives.

From the book of fantastical stories they take quite literally until it starts getting ridiculous.... then they find some "other meaning" for the words. To just the arrogant way they try to impose their religion upon everyone else.

God could be anything from something similar to the Christian God (but is no longer "watching over us" anymore) to an alien race that planted the seed of life here on earth millions of years ago. Agnostics are of the belief that NO ONE at this point in our evolution can either prove or disprove the existence of God.

I just wanted to make that clear because I am often (understandably) confused for an atheist..... I believe that atheists are equally as arrogant in their "belief" that they know everything and there just can't be a God. This all just "happened".

As for the Obama question. No not at all. I am absolutely and completely against it even for him. I ONLY give him slack because when I weigh all the good that I believe he will do in office against the fact that I never hear him getting all evangelical on me I feel that it is in my best interests to support him. That's all. He's human. He's not perfect even though you guys like to use the "messiah" joke to poke a little fun. Some of the people I MOST respect in life are Christians. But when I am met with people who post thin arguments for their belief in the Christian God for example, I mock them just as fiercely as I do people who voted for Bushy (no offense ;))

Thanks for the congrats and congrats to you on another well fought election season. See you next time ;)
