If I submit to a thousand directories for a keyword, will it increase my ranking?

So I just learned about keyword optimizing. If I submit to a bunch of directories with the specific keyword, will it increase my chance of ranking for google?

I mean I know it won't be much, but it won't negatively affect any rankings will it?

 

use different description/keywords.. dont spam to 1000s of directories with same info..
do it slowly....
and quality directories will work.

I agree that doing submission with one keyword will improve your rankings, however it is not recommended to do the same in one go, if you want to use only one keyword then spread it over time.

 

imo use 1000 different keywords is better than 1000 same one,
Anyway choose quality directories is more important.

 

I agree with other members when they say use multiple titles and descriptions for your website. Remember natural links given to your site from different people will never use the same anchor text.
