Tell a friend script, who still uses it?

Today I was searching around on the internet when I cam across this web article that explained how to increase traffic to your site. As I was reading it, I noticed a sub-heading "Tell a Friend Script".

I must say, it has been a long time since I have seen "tell a friend scripts" used as a web traffic tool. Many of the big social networks used them to get the word out, but now, who still use this tool? Is it even worth it?

 

i used that before for my adult site, but it was useless.

 

Lot of people still use it. Ecommerce sites for example.
Put it this way, every little thing sums up to a bigger number.

 

I use it on several of my sites but i'm not sure if it has been put to use much. I just like to have it there for extra functionality and just in case the end user would actually use it. Although I can't say i have ever used one before..

Using 2 different versions of 'tell a friend/refer a friend' scripts.

one allows tracking of referrals and sign-ups and shows good #s.

averaging about 30-40 opt-in signups daily.

but not based soley on the scripts, as also driving traffic to sites; good way to grow client base quickly and effectively though.

 

I use it on some of my forums and groups.. but now that we are on the topic, i think ill make one for my other sites as well

 

I never use "tell a friend" buttons on websites... I just to to File > Send Link. Easily done!

but i use just not tell a friend script, i use wordpress tell a friend script, which is more effective.

So you are saying, you can benefit more from a tell a friend script if used to bring in more leads or referrals. Mainly with affiliate programs and other referral type money making program.

 

I have one in my sites.

It takes up little space, so I would be pretty dumb not to use it.

 

right, but not only leads/referrals.. say if you have them opt-in a mailing list for your site.. tell a friend is a great way to get new visitors/clients by using whoever landed on your site and tapping into their network.

used mainly for email list building in my situation.

 

I tried to install the plug in--tell a friend-- I'm not having any luck. I tried using Filezilla to ftp- but I couldn't get it to connect to the wordpress server where my blog lives...what do you use for uploading?

I put it on my site. After about 3 months a checked the stats and it was not used a single time. I do however see lots of mail1.yahoo.com etc. in my referal logs so I think in this day and age people just copy-paste the URL into an email message.

 

I still have it on most of my sites but frankly I do not see a lot of return from using it. But, as others said, every little bit counts

 

So, if you could make a "Tell A Friend Script" Wish list, what would it be?

Yes it still working at least for me.
I have been successful get 10+ user using the script everyday.
Just put the script at your site coz it will not harm you

 

802networks, people use them, it's just all in how you do it, how you present it.

 

I still use it, and sometimes my traffic comes from this method.

 

Ok, Ok, I see there are some people who still use it. Without giving away your secretes, who could you give us unbelivers ideas on who we apply this script.. Because I just dont see a use for it.
