So an SEM company calls me and says they are a Google reseller and they can sell me a guaranteed top 3 placement in Google sponsored ads. So I asked if they were simply going to run an AdWords campaign. They told me that they did NOT run adwords campaigns. That they simply purchased directly from Google a sponsored position for 1 month--I balked at that. But I am not sure, does Google do something like that? I suggested that they were simply going to figure out what it would cost to be placed in position 1-3 and add X. And that would be my cost. They assured me that it had nothing to do with AdWord costs or CTR. It was purely a 1-month buy for the top position--as many impressions and clicks as I could get. The whole thing sounds fishy to me, because I have never heard of Google doing anything like this. I fully expect to get an outrageous bid back. One last thing, I asked what kind of stats they offered. They said the only one they could offer were quarterly numbers after the fact--which pretty much makes me think its a scam. I think they are just charging what they can and trying to beat everyone else with better QS scores. Just wondering if any one has heard anything similar?
They were lying to you. They are probably bad people. You can't buy a position in Adwords - you can't even guarantee a top three position by bidding big money any more. Adwords is an auction, but they adjust your bids with something they call Quality Score - a measure of relevance and trustworthiness. In order to appear above the natural search results, you need your Quality Score to be above a certain threshold, and if it isn't, no amount of money will put you there. If three other adverts achieve the threshold, and bid enough, they can appear above the natural search results, even if you 'should' appear above them, but fail to mee the threshold. So, whilst you could pay your way to the top in the past, now you can't necessarily do that no matter how deep your pockets are.
Google it. There is such a thing. Requirements are excessive and you have to be a fairly large company to get reseller status (at least here in Aus anyway) They can't buy positions though!
You better ignore those guys, it sounds like a scam to me. If you want to do anything with Google, I think you should contact them directly.
Bingo I am with a company called Livedeal Inc. We are an Authorized google Adwords Reseller and that is exactly what I do. As many of you have experienced contacting google is not easy AT ALL and when you do they don't care about your accounts performance or what is working best in your area, no their answer is put more money in and find out on your own. We eliminate all that and give you a place to give you your business life back. If you think about it someone who is a business owner and spends just 15 minutes a day on there adword account, assuming they pay themselves 100$/hr, it would cost $500 extra dollars in time each month. I get hired and can produce results that unless you are an Authorized Google Adwords Reseller cannot be duplicated.
