Anyone seen their new homepage? Pretty soon you'll need 2GB of RAM just to open the dang thing. I tried using Yahoo IM a few months back for the first time in a few years and its got sooooo much crap attached to it, it just about locks up my PC everytime I try to use it! Adobe Photosop, Illustrator, movie creating software, no problems. A simple chat applet- freezes me up. loool And to think Yahoo is still the top search engine out there. When will people wake up?
I really like their new home page. Simpler, easier, and more, more nice. I also hate yahoo but this new look it is really great. Who knows, maybe I'll use !Yahoo in a couple of years.
tbh, 2 GB RAM these day's are common. Most of the computers come with 1-2 GB RAM's and if you can't buy another RAM stick of 1 GB, then you might as well get a job. 1 GB RAM stick costs around $20-$25. For me, I bulk order them a lot of the time for my business, around 150, 1 GB RAM sticks, and I get a big discount from my supplier.
Cant agree any less to what you said about Y messenger, I logged in after quite a bit of time and it froze my computer.
Could you imagine if all the Microsoft OS's and Programs only required the same amount of system resources as they did in 98SE? We'd all be flying around our computers faster than we can click! I own MS Office 13 but I use MS office 10 instead- it has all the functions of Office 13 without all the "pretty" interface. Not to get too off topic here, but in my opintion 98SE was the best Microsoft OS I've ever used! More stable and used WAAAAAAAAAY less resources than Vista. I don't utilize any of the "extras" vista comes with anyway... Just my two cents.
Yeah, but just because you have 2GB of ram doesn't mean you should have to use it to type in a simple word processing program or check your yahoo main IMO.
It's simple. Before you start complaining, it's just simple common sense. If you don't have it or you can't afford it or don't want it, don't talk. There are reasons as to why 2 GB RAM is required and its' basic common sense. "Oh man, Microsoft's vista requires 2 GB RAM to run good, and I can't really afford that and I hate vista...". Those kinds of comments are not necessary and just show how low a person is really. Basic common sense.
Not to get too off topic here, but in my opinion Win2K was the best Microsoft OS I've ever used! More stable, less security holes, and still used less resources than Vista. In fact Vista made me finally learn Ubuntu.
Everyone I know doesn't bother with single app chat programs. Try Trillian out, it's free and has Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, and AIM without the attached ads and crap.
I happen to have 4GB of ram installed on my computer and anything I run runs fine. Im just saying that the major developers out there are taking advantage of the extra resources that computers have now and blowing their sites/programs up into a bunch of inflated, not necessary graphics and functions. Im just saying it would be nice if some developers would keep things simple and STABLE instead of trying to update it every month, hogging more and more resources and becoming less and less stable. It was just a comment I made, not intended to turn into a debate, thats all.
I understand what your saying.. but if you think about it and do research about it, there are programs which reduce the resources which Vista uses and stables it more. I did a bit research and found 3 programs which stable's vista. Before I installed the programs, Vista used around 700 MB's ram alone to run everything.. and after I installed the program, it only used 400 MB's. Everything runs perfectly fine for me. I've tested vista on 1 GB ram, 2 GB ram, 3 GB RAM and 4 GM ram.. and performance on 1 & 2 GM is the same. On the higher ones, it's a lot faster.
The system I'm on right now is a Ubuntu system with 256MB RAM and a 600MhZ PIII processor. It works just fine for managing websites. My next door neighbor just bought a new multi-core gaming rig that came with 4GB RAM & I'm going to buy his old Athlon64 3000+ rig with 1GB RAM and put Ubuntu on that once the place is done swapping his files over. I probably wont need it, but I might stick another GB of RAM in it just for spits & giggles.
I noticed that Yahoo did not take their Halloween decorations down until today. They are only 3 days behind.
So? I'd like to see you do any better. Think of the position they are in.. debts, stocks falling, etc...
Yahoo gets more traffic than Google. Everyone knows that. Google is used more for searches, but Yahoo is more popuar by pageviews.
