Hi all. Obviously its important to have keyword in URL if possible and especially in tags etc. I just wondered if it is less important than links? So for instance if you have acne dot com but not many links, is that better in serps than a site called irrelevant dot com that has more links but same content? Hope that makes sense.
keywords in content is best way to get decernt ranking in google and all search engines and generate good traffic
for a dictionary keyword,Google will be default will put you on top (unless its way too competitive or a strong wiki page exist)
from my experience links are most important if you have PR6 sites linking to you, you are going to get huge success with google
Keyword in link is good, but it is not enough. One guy here tells me that: 1. Dofollow 2. High PR 3. Same niche
In most niches competition is so high that keywords are not a distinctive factor aymore, so the authority of your site determines the serps, that is backlinks. But it wins you a plus as you already said.
Links are more important than keywords in the url, but it does depend on how many links you have. If you have the exact keyword in your url with no other letters or hyphens, then you may be able to get good rankings with a few links. But most big sites with a brand name get lots of links and come high in google without keywords in the url.
keywords add in link to make high prominence of that keyword for search engines. So that that are very important but in url that play some special role abut site. Because in that need high quality links, top class content and lots of pages should be index in search engines.
I don't think keyword in URL have much value. Google consider keyword density in the content, and also quality of content, BL
No, that is incorrect. It is very good if you have the keyword in the url. However you must also have links to get good rankings. I have seen sites with the keyword in the url and a few links outranking sites with 100,000 of links.
Think of it this way: You can rank high for any keyword with lots of links even if none of your keywords appear in your domain. You can't rank highly for your own domain name without some quality links. At least not in any keyword worth the effort.
At one time, it was important. But site's age, the use of Underscores/Hyphens, microsites, etc. have made this less important. If you can get a keyword in the domain name, this would be good though. As for directory, subdirectories, or filenames, no.
It does have some bearing, but it is not critical. The other guys here haev covered the subject well.
The major benefit is not so much the Search Engines seeing the Keyword in the URL (Which has some benefit but is debatable) but if your audience will use those keyword rich URL's to link back to you. For example: Los Angeles How hard do you think it is for LosAngeles.com to get people to use Los Angeles linking back to them? Probably not hard at all. How about CityofAngles.com?
According to me yes its important to have the keyword in the URL itself. It gives more support to your ranking. And when you promote the site it with that particular site its shows your effort more.
