There was a method mention on bluehatSEO.com It went something like this, get a couple of images up on a blank domain and try to get them indexed in Google images. Create a seperate page for each image and have it come up with the image and a line underneath saying "want to use this image in your signature, website, myspace or facebook? Simply copy and paste this code into your page" Give them the code, but also make the image into a a link back to the blank domain, make sure you use border="0" so it isn't obvious it's a link. Many unexperienced surfers will copy the code and use it directly. A goofy image can get quite popular as an avator and get many uses. Once you're ready to use all those links, just 301 the domain to your site. That was the idea anyway, not sure how effective it can really be.
