RSS Feeds? Good or Bad...

I can't decide, will it be useless content since its duplicate content. I feel like it will just be a waste of space on my vBulletin forum. I was thinking of having its very own sub-forum.

What is your opinion, please do not reply with just saying "its good" or "its bad".

It's good. You can put a poll with the thread for such questions.

SEs can index your new pages faster when you have an RSS feed. Your users can also get updates by subscribing to the feed.

That's a good point. Having RSS gives you a method to get more back links by using RSS directories.

Ever wondered how google indexes new posts on digitalpoint so fast? It's the RSS.

RSS feeds are certainly important, as they bring back back your visitors and subscribers.
that's increase your traffic as well, so they are good IMO.

I think everyone is misunderstanding what Shazz is saying..

In vBulletin you can have other RSS feeds pulled in and posted in what ever forum you want.
He's asking your opinions on having some other feeds about his niche pulled in and posted in one of his forum categories.. :D

okay, my opinion is this man.. I think it's good for starter forums, it helps get a good deal of pages posted and you get a ton of related content. I did this on a new forum I've started for the Topeka news, but I only ran it a few weeks just to get 100 or so threads. I knew we wouldn't have many members in those first two weeks, so the "100 new post" wouldn't all be the feeds.

So in short, it's good for a few days/weeks but I wouldn't run it much longer unless you can get those post removed from the "new post" link. :)

@Loco.M: Thanks for the explanation. I agree that it will be good for new forums. I have seen many sites using DP feed as 'webmaster news' :) And engagenet or gidmodo feed for gadget reviews section of the forum.

And I agree it's more beneficial for the site providing the content.
