    Hi DP Friends,

I really could use some help from the pros here.

I've had a site hosted on blogger for about a year, it is starting to get great traffic from the search engines, mostly google of course, I get about 25000 uniques a month and I'm worried about losing that traffic.

Any tips on how or if I should even bother moving it would appreciated.

    Thanks!!

Well moving it will definately lose all your rankings I am afraid, there is nothing you can really do to stop it, except to do it quickly and get it over and done with so that in a few months, you will hopefully get your rankings back.

It is very good though, 25000 uniques a month, lol I am quite new to the website business but have been doing LOADS of research, so I hope to reach that amount soon with my dog site :D

Hope you gain your rankings back if you do it, but my advice is to leave it there, unless there is a real reason or urge to move.

    Good Luck!
+rep appreciated (but not asking for it lol) :D

Thank you magestry, I think just leaving my blogger bog just the way it is might be my only alternative.

what do you mean by moving it?
    moving hosts?
but your content will be the same?

i have heard conflicting views on this one
does anyone any personal experiences in this?

I dont understand, you mean you wanna just move hosting ? In that case, you dont need to have any down time at all and you wont lose ranking, just move all the files to the new hosting first and only then change the DNS.

If thats not what you meant so please clarify it.

I suppose that wilderr67 is talking about changing of domain name for his blog. In that case I suggest to transfer some PR weight of your blog to your new domain by putting a link "blog has been moved" on each page of your old blog. Move page by page from your old blog to new. Don't delete your old blog at once because in that case you'll lose all Page Rank you have.

Nevertheless, it would be better to keep your blog as it is.

Sorry, I don't think I was clear enough.

I have a blogspot blog, free hosting through blogger, and the domain is a DOT blogspot.com domain. I have been thinking about moving it away from blogspot and self hosting with a a domain i own, and transfering all the content.
The blogspot blog is a PR4 and it gets great search engine traffic.

I wanted to know if I would get wiped out by the search engine traffic if I move it all to a new domain and self hosting.

    Hope that makes it clearer

    Thanks Guys

After about reading opinions all over the net on this, it sounds like it would be a bad idea to move it.....thanks
