Odd that some are voting Democrat to effect "change" when that's what they did in 2006 when they put both legislative bodies in control of the Democrats. Did I miss the part where they did something significant or has Bush vetoed lots of groundbreaking legislation we didnt hear about? No race is over until the votes are counted. If you want to bet on the outcome, most polls show it headed Obama's way, but polls are closer than some would indicate, and one of the most recent (as indicated above) actually favored McCain. Still, if the Democrats don't sit home expecting someone else to do their work for them (an unfortunate byproduct of buying votes by promising to take money from those that earned it and give it to those that didnt)... then they will likely win. This is still a "margin of error" race according to almost any measure but MSNBC (they seem to think Obama was sworn in last week). The landslide that some are predicting could come back to bite 'em if the Dems think it's in the bag and celebrate before the race is actually won. It's easily possible to win every poll and still lose an election if they don't show up for the game. In that spirit, I hope folks like George keep spreading the good word that the game's already over. Nothin to see here folks... elections won, Obama's got it in the bag, go pop a top and celebrate.
This is still a "margin of error" race according to almost any measure but MSNBC (they seem to think Obama was sworn in last week). Well, no, not really. Popular (Real Clear - drawn from several polling sources): RCP Average 10/25 - 10/31 -- -- 50.2 43.8 Obama +6.4 Rasmussen Reports 10/29 - 10/31 3000 LV 2.0 51 46 Obama +5 Diageo/Hotline 10/29 - 10/31 876 LV 3.6 51 44 Obama +7 Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby 10/29 - 10/31 1201 LV 2.9 49 44 Obama +5 Gallup (Traditional)* 10/28 - 10/30 2116 LV 2.0 51 43 Obama +8 Gallup (Expanded)* 10/28 - 10/30 2459 LV 2.0 52 43 Obama +9 Marist 10/29 - 10/29 543 LV 4.5 50 43 Obama +7 GWU/Battleground 10/27 - 10/30 800 LV 3.5 49 45 Obama +4 ABC News/Wash Post 10/27 - 10/30 1580 LV 2.5 53 44 Obama +9 FOX News 10/28 - 10/29 924 LV 3.0 47 44 Obama +3 IBD/TIPP 10/26 - 10/30 894 LV 3.0 48 44 Obama +4 CBS News/NY Times 10/25 - 10/29 1005 LV -- 52 41 Obama +11 Electoral, RCP: Obama +179 (311-132). Absolutely agree. No one should be complacent, by any stretch of the imagination, and in fact, media prognostications that it may be over may invoke its opposite - people mildly leaning to Obama, who might be put off by being told the deal is done.
It's not over until the polls close on election day! No Obama supporter should get lazy now. We have to sprint through the finish line. Find your polling place at VoteForChange.com Teach the GOP a lesson: Dirty campaigns comprised of nothing but lies and distortions don't work anymore. And remember to think of George W. Bush's smirking face when you see John McCain's name on the ballot.
Obama is definitely ahead in the polls and probably more importantly I think he's significantly ahead in early votes. But that is no reason for any Obama supporter to not vote on election day. Go to VoteForChange.com and find your polling location. We must not only beat the GOP this election, we must destroy them for what they've done to this country and for the disgusting low down campaign tactics that they use. And remember, when you see John McCain's name on that ballot think of George W. Bush's smirking face and his puppeteer DICK CHENEY. A vote for McCain is your way of telling Bush & Cheney that they've done a GREAT job over the last 8 years.
Be sure and let us know some of the amazing accomplishments of the Democrat controlled House and Senate during the last two years since they were elected to bring us change. I'm dying to hear of their many accomplishments.
Last I heard Obama was way ahead in early voting. 2-3 to 1. The tightening polls might not mean as much this year since something like 1/3(if memory serves) have already voted.
They accomplished a lower approval rating than GW Bush. God only knows how, but it was a masterful accomplishment.
I THINK I heard 10% quoted... but thats still a pretty significant number and might offset some effect of a tightening race.
Yeah, 1/3 seems high and my memory of hearing it is vague. I've been hearing so many numbers and statistics lately that it's all becoming a mental mash.
I don't really trust these polls at all. I think it's sort of funny to see the poll wars that people wage in this forum. Anyone remember New Hampshire in the primaries? Even if the polls are pretty accurate, there's no real accounting for the turnout graph.
You know I thought of that when I voted earlier today Oh yeah there was like 6 names on the ballot, I decided I would pick the "lesser of 6 evils" lol...
We'll all find out soon enough in just a couple of days! I really don't trust these "Colored Maps" from those election sites... to me, it all matters on what happens on the 4th.
You know that a lot of us will be laughing at you on Wednesday morning when Obama wins GTech. Your buddy Hannity is trying every trick in the book to discredit Obama but it's not working buddy.
Not quite sure you can call it taking the high road when I had to corner you and drag it out of you. But nice try. Hell, even when I did you had to get one more long post attacking Obama in before you realized you were doing EXACTLY what I was accusing you of. I know, I know, old habits.... So after all this you JUST NOW sat down and actually thought about why it is you liek your candidate. Because Wade, I have to tell you, my argument in this thread and the way you responded up to this point make it clear to me that you hadn't before. So I'm glad I could help So let's see what you've got here Thank you. I don't knwo what you mean. "who else?" And as always I respect you for it.
Hey GTech - your trusty Zogby single day went from McCain +1 to Obama +10. Still trust it? See what happens when you cherry pick unreliable data points? They come right back to bite you. To get a more realistic understanding of where the election is at go to FiveThirtyEight.com or at least pollster.com --- A single day sample from a tracking poll (particularly one with such a small sample size) is just not that meaningful on it's own. --- Has anyone seen the Sarah Palin prank call getting mentioned on TV? She really sounds like a bubble head (even more than usual.) I can see it as being the final nail in the coffin for people who are a bit sketchy on Palin. Hopefully the late deciders break Barack Obama's way and we can really send a message to George W. Bush & Dick Cheney and just as importantly to the Karl Rove campaign tactics that the McCain campaign has been using. Go to VoteForChange.com to find your polling location. --- George B - the point you make about McCain's personal life (cheating on his disabled wife with a much younger very rich woman) is so right. It's absolute insanity the way the right wingers have thrown every bit of "guilt by association" nonsense at Obama in a character assassination attempt but they really don't have anything. Obama appears to have very very little in his closet compared to most politicians. No real scandals. No infidelity. Seriously the worst the GOP has is that he knew a PROFESSOR (bill ayers.) It's so weak.
