My active rate to be honest is quite low, but my newer referrals certainly seem to be more active, and sticking with the program, so overall my referrals are certainly becoming more active! :)

I think it depends how you market you ref. link that determines how active your referrals will be, for instance friends you tell personally are likely to be active than ones you tell via a spammy email blast.

You just need to experiment a little to find the best way to gain referrals.
    Good Luck with it.
    Tom :)

I haven't got many referrals. It would be quite hard to earn a living of this!

I think it's best to think of it as a great way to earn an extra little each month, with anything more as a bonus, that you will have to work to build up - like anything this will not make you rich overnight (nothing will!) but its a wonderful way to get some extra $$ in your pocket.

Your right you probs wouldn't be able to make a living, but theoreticly you could earn a living if you had enought people in your downline and they stayed active but in a normal world your downline would have to keep growing on every level to maintaine a active downline.

The point of this thread is if you could do all those things then you could 'theoreticly' make a living from searching or your downline searching.

This sounds kind of ridiculous. That's some weird math - I bet the retention rate of this program is as low as hell. I've tried search engine affiliate programs before (Blingo, Winzy, etc) and no amount of promotion ever made them successful for me.

Myhpf does have a cutting edge over the others in that they are officially working with a huge search engine ( Yahoo),most of the others have no official tie in.
Also they have a strong background in the charity sector (There sister company is called Whitebox)
Once they get this shopping cashback system going too this should really set them apart from everybody else.

I used to use Winzy too, but did not win anything except useless raffle "points". With homepages friends, you earn money for each search. There is no raffle involved.

Are they removing your searches or searches from your referrals?

They have a number of rules on what they will/wont credit .... for instance they wont pay you for searching "google" - 1) because you clearly know the URL already 2) Google are in direct competition with Yahoo (Yahoo working in partnership with myhpf)
Full guidelines of searching are here : http://www.myhpf.co.uk/faqs.asp#guidelines

They have changed the system also now to remove invalid searches overnight, rather than the large lag time before, this will stop your balance from falling.

It's pretty much just a gimic that will never make you any money unless you can build and keep an active downline.

I would say, just use it like you use any other search engine. Even if you make $10 a month, its free money. How many times have you donated $10 to anyone lol ..
And side-by-side, work on the downline. When you have a downline of 100, I believe, that could answer all questions.
Is there anyone who has some downline?? May be an affiliate with a long list of downline can answer if someone could make a living out of that.

    Regards,
    Andy.
