    Good afternoon Harry.

Tell us first what your website is to be about and we'll see about helping you to choose a decent domain that will help your website along.

The registration of a new domain will cost you depending on the registrar that you choose, around $10.00 per annum. There are some cheaper offers around too.

    My favorite is Dynadot.com - http;//www.Dynadot.com

As regards a free domain, yes if it's a sub domain, but this is not recommended. You will be better off buying your very own domain name straightaway.

You will then have to sort out a host for the website.

    Personally speaking I enjoy using Hostgator.com - http://Hostgator.com

Let me know if you would like for me to search for a domain on your behalf and I'll be only too happy to help you out if I can ok.

Send me a pm message if you like or post below, I don't mind.

Wishing you every success with your new website!

You can get a domain name from Godaddy will take you 2mins to register it , they always have nice coupons and really great prices
Hosting ? Depends on the space you need, but my advice is to buy hosting from a brand

I recommend 1and1.com for hosting and domain names. The prices are good and they provide many tools with the hosting service. If you sign up for hosting you get 3 domains free and then $6.99 for .com domains after that.

You can sometimes find deals for free .biz or .us sites; but if you want to drive a lot of traffic to a site and want something easy to remember, it is best to go with .com.

The other option for FREE domains is to create blog on a site like blogger.com; but you won't have much flexibility with it. I all really depends on what you need to do with the domain.

    Best of luck!
    Scott

I always recommend the godaddy basic hosting package. Its large enough to host anything you want. It costs about $52 a year for the domain and hosting account. It's a great deal for a fast and quality hosting service for cheap money.

Host gator is nice but it's really slow and not reliable from my experiences. I say pay a little extra for quality stuff, your better off that way. $52 dollars a year is a great price for a website you can always rely on.
