I have a phpfox license which I haven't used yet so I wanna start a new community. I have paid $300 for the script and it's a waste of money If I don't do anything with it. What do I expect from my potential partner? You pay for the first three months of vps hosting including a domainname. (around $60-$70 total) You design the website so it looks appealing. (you need to have experience) What can you expect from me? I have bought the license for $300. I'll start marketing the site. I'll also start adding content to the site. I'm looking for someone with experience and someone who has allready setup some successfull sites. Maybe you allready have a mailinglist which we can use for the launch. Too bad you didn't show up last year when I started one. You could've forked half of the failure bill for me. The PHPFox script is a horrible ctr site. You need like 10,000visitors to make 10cents on it. I tried and found out that it's impossible to make money because while it costed $20 a month to run, it would make $30 in total..What's the point. I would just scrap it and move on.
If your serious about it, get an investor. And.. you're just plain stupid if you intend to start a social network with no sign of uniqueness.
Please leave the negative stuff out off this thread. I guess all of you never heard of paid membership sites. For the issue about vps. I offer my visitors only fast loading sites because I personally hate it when I have to wait untill a page loads.
You are the one who are planning to invest $5000 in online business isn't it? Your budget is big so that you can make a better unique looking website than having the same appearance like many other PHPFox communities.. Sorry.. Not leaving negative stuff but just felt like saying what I had to say.
I own a social networking site that is a unique niche. I have over 22 plus sponsors and 1 sponsors is a Fortune 500 household name. I have annual contracts with each co. I'm in the process of placing this site up for sale but have no idea what it is worth. I have made nearing $50,000 in six months since the site launched. I have 1 part time marketing rep that sells advertisement space. She works part time and paid a commission per sale. I own a dedicated server and the server bill is $275.00 a month. I have no other expense. I'm selling or partnering up to use the cash for a physical business project that I'm working on. Interested parties can contact me. However you would have to sign a non disclosure and have it notarized. This is a serious business that is fun but we have sponsors and I'm looking out for their best interest and the members. Amroawad, good luck - I think you will be fine. If I were you I would look into a Indie Band Social Network. 1 or 2 groups will get you mega traffic if they have groupies- Everyone loves music. Let them set up profiles for free and then try and get the places where they are playing to pay you money for stuff - marketing, advertising, free drink coupons.. Etc.
