Type-In traffic according to Google Analytics?

I am seeing a high amount of direct traffic according to Google analytics. Is there anything that can fool the software to make it think it was direct?

I just have a hard time believing that a site that is a few month old SUDDENLY started getting type-in traffic when it never did before.

It is a wallpaper site but I see the google images referral as a separate item but I though that is what it might have been initially.

Any thoughts or facts on the subject?

With those, none really. I have them linked from some of my other sites, but that is about it. They all just shot up, and I mean from 9 to 10 hits to 200 almost overnight. Then it went from 100 pageviews to 2500 pageviews.

I thought maybe someone was just stealing wallpapers until it stayed steady and has since.

    We will see!

That's maybe a good sign as Funk-woo10 said. I remember when http://www.tutorialsroom.com was new that I've noticed too many direct traffic came suddenly. I researched this for some time and finally I got it, It was a java script I wrote to make my site "get out" of frames. A famous tutorials directory had some of my tutorials on it in a frame and the java script made it jump out and fooled me as a direct traffic for sometime :)

You nailed it! I forgot I had added that script to my celebrity sites when I read about that. It was a hack for google images so when someone clicked on the photo it wouldnt keep you in the google frame.

Thanks! So I can assume naming all of those picture paid off and my traffic is coming from google images.
