If my site rejected, will yahoo pay my money back?

Im planning to pay $299 to yahoo but when i search on google i couldn't see enough positive review about dir.yahoo.com. And some of them was saying that they don't pay you back if they reject your site! How is that possible? They take your money but not placing you in the directory.

I remember the last time I looked that was the case. You are paying for a review not buying a link.

Quite right. You are paying for the time and effort it takes them to assess your site, not purchasing a digital product like buying something off amazon.

That's a huge amount to loose if your sites does not get listed, for me I wouldn't risk it.

I read the submission guidelines at yahoo a while ago and I believe the fee is for review and clearly states non-refundable whether the site is accepted or rejected.

You re right, if they don't like your site, they still love your money! so never pay it back. I was gonna submit my site and i made processes untill guidelines and read that they don't say that if your site be rejected we won't give your money back. It says instead "submitting(paying) is not guaranteed that your site will be accepted. Many people inc me would think that you would be refunded, don't you think so? I mean it s not very clear ..

I've just had a look and would say it's clear.
    7- Day Guarantee
    US$299.00 non-refundable,
    recurring annual fee

I'm not saying I condone it or agree $300 is reasonable for a website review, but the sites would certainly be reviewed by paid editors and Yahoo is in the business of making a profit.

Think of the spam they'd get if they refunded the fee too. ;)

Exactly. $300 is a lot, but I can only assume that as yahoo is one of the most authoritive sites on the web, the listing will carry some great link weight and also increase traffic from yahoo SERPs.

You should be confident enough that your site is of a quality that sites like Yahoo would be happy to accept it to their directory. Submitting a new website with no quality standards, and expecting it to be listed is not correct.

As others said, they review your website for $300 and if they feel its upto the standards, you are in!

There seems little doubt yahoo is an excellent link to have. I have been holding off submitting there but probably need to send a couple sites in.
