I have a site listed as an authority site in google. Is there a way to pick or change the links you want listed?

As far as I remember you can only block ones from being listed. Google does a somewhat natural selection of those links.

log into google web master tools
    http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/
then go to "links" then "site links" and you will see (as cormac pointed out) the ability to block any of the site links you would rather not have shown.

I have never tried to block any myself of the 8 i see listed for my site, and would be reluctant to try in case it did not offer any new options of links some time in the future.

If there is one that you really do not want to show, by all means block it, but otherwise just feel happy they have honoured your site with them in the first place :)

that's my 2c worth, or is that 5c with inflation how it is ;)

You are right about the last point i block 5 of them as i dont find them so important and now they all have been removed from webmaster tools allthought in search results appear all of them along with the 5 i hve blocked.
So only block them if you thing they hurt your site or are leading to a 404 page.

Where on earth did this 'authority site' myth spring up? Google is giving sitelinks to most sites over a certain age and size. For most sites they only appear if someone searches for the actual name of the site, as that's the only search they come on top of serps for. It has nothing to do with 'authority'.

It's some kind of authority if you get sitelinks for some competitive keywords ;)
