For people who believe in soul/spirit/ghost , I am suspecting that even though spirits can come close to humans but they cannot lift any mass , if they were capable of doing so , they could have easily proved their existence also took revenge on people whom they did not like . Which in turn could prove souls may not have any mass at all. What do you think ?
Too many vague nouns in all that. It is not yet discovered, and we don't scientifically have the tools to even try to quantify a "soul/spirit/ghost". Until then I say believe what you want, other people have different experiences in life, and if you have some reason to believe in ghosts then go explore that and take notes. Happy Halloween.
I know some pretty well educated folks that believe ghosts are real. Not something I have a desire to argue with them, pretty sure I cant disprove it nor can they prove it. [At least I hope they can't prove it, I'm not curious enough to wanna see that]
Just because you don't believe in it doesn't mean it can't be possible. There are plenty of men at a ripe old age that believe in ghosts. But you'd also have define what you believe a ghost is.. is it the scooby-doo type ghost that is imitated around Halloween or a family member that revisits you late at night. I personally believe the way ghosts are portrayed today contributes to the idea that eventually you will "grow out of that silly belief as you would Santa". Am I alone, not at all. www.coasttocoastam.com Biggest, fastest growing late-night radio show in the world. Oops, didn't see this before posting, same idea basically. I have a picture of my own in my grandma's abandoned house that shows what appears to be a ghost of a relative, family thought I edited in there - but I didn't, it is that real.
I dont discount the possibility. I know some very intelligent people that swear to stuff just like what you've said.
I know , I meant we had the same idea. My choice of wording always creates confusion. Usually a lot more confusion then necessary .
Dude, not you again! You believe in God and ghosts? What about vampires and werewolves? Are they real in Nateville, too? I suppose you even believe in fairies! Well, ghosts must exist, then! Or, another explanation is that these people are just plain old stupid. Ghosts, as I understand them, are the spirits of dead people that have come back to haunt places or the living. They appear as transparent spectres, commonly bound by chains. Is that the Scooby-doo type? Which type do you believe in? Don't tell me you even believe in Santa Claus!
Ghosts can influence matter, they just have to concentrate really hard. I learned that from watching Ghost, the movie. Just don't ask why he doesn't fall through the floor of the subway train or any floor, or the ground for that matter, because that won't be revealed until the sequel.
You're still thinking I'm a Christian? Nope, but not far from your thinking that if you don't believe in it then it's impossible. I never watched scooby-doo much.
Forget about ghost , suppose you are in a room , now can some peson come from behind you and stand there without you knowing ? if yes , how can you hope to feel a ghost ? Science will prove that human beings have much shuttler senses than well known five senses in few decades. All close relatives of you continue to come to you even after death , but you do not have ability to feel their presence.
I also have one taken in the house we use to live in where there were plenty of unexplained events. I even had a post here on DP with a link to it but someone deleted it. So I will leave it at, I believe. I've had way too many experiences to ever claim ignorance. I can understand wanting some sort of proof, but to completely discount it out-of-hand is just dense.
I'm assuming you're referring to me? What I believe in is actually the opposite of the fear of death. What are you talking about?
Do you not see how illogical it is to experience an "unexplained event" and then to assume that a ghost may have been responsible? Yeah because dying instantly gives people the ability to manipulate photographic equipment. I mean, They aren't very good at appearing in a way that can not be disputed, In a lab or on live TV, But they are shit hot at appearing in an ambiguous, fuzzy shape on a photo. Of course, It could be that the image was the result of a perfectly natural photographic anomaly, But that would just be silly. A dead person coming back in spirit form has to be the likely cause. I wasn't.
An excerpt from Carl Sagan's "The Demon Haunted World"...it pretty much sums up my approach to any claim of supernatural experiences (which includes religion): http://www.godlessgeeks.com/LINKS/Dragon.htm
I know, that's why I quoted your first post. And I don't think any claim, even extraordinary ones, should be discarded out of hand. However the story is also makes a strong case for the search for actual, verifiable evidence to support claims made. When a search for hard evidence reveals *nothing*, the claim isn't being discarded out of hand.
