Many people saw the kingdom of heaven movie. Abt how Salahuddin Al Ayubi take over Jerusalem from Non moslem. This happen because: when moslem follow real Islam...God (Allah) will help moslem. Not like today..moslem did not follow real Islam..So non moslem see the life of moslem, they did not see any beauty.. Just imagine..when the time of salahuddin al ayubi..when he want to choose front line warrior..he will choose the moslems that do praying at nite and cry to god evey nite (this what we called tahajud) Nowadays..dont say about tahajud..even normal 5 times praying only 10% moslems do properly..

But I think if he realizes that he has indeed 'wasted' his life thinking of an imaginary entity, he should be jumping up in joy, for he has finally found out the secret to actually live and not 'pretend' to live - As a wise man once said 'The only way to live is to live free' - Free from all fears - including the fear of an imaginary superpower which supervises you all the time like peeping tom and pounds on you when you disobey it.
We cry before God due to 2 reasons: 1. Because we love Him. 2. Because we fear Him. We ask Him forgiveness for our evil deeds, and we ask Him to prtect us from Hell and admit us into Paradise. And Indeed, We hope He will Honour us to have a glance at Him The Owner of Majesty and Nobility.
