Oh of course but what I don't know is how to take the next step. What should I do next after I have a good amount of stat data?
hi Everyone, Good info here. Indeed it's not easy to get started from scratch, but however still possible. Find the ones who are allready making a reasonable amount of money in your niche or any niche you like. Then listen, listen, listen and last but not least: listen to them. Why invent the wheel again? Learning from good examples ( and don't forget the bad ones either!) is the best you can do. to your success, Hans J Meyer www.warpprojects.com
I think people are misunderstanding the OP lol... I agree with you on every point but there's a lot more to it than that. And I also thought this post was just a blatant promo for your link.
Nice list. They are all good points, and many people miss a few of them (like capitalizing on your demographics from analytics/stats). I'll add 2 quick points relating to traffic: Mistake 1: Assuming that clicks = $$. Clicks don't make money--conversions do. Conversions come from TARGETED clicks. You'll make more money with 100 highly-targeted clicks than with 5000 random surfers. Mistake 2: Trying to rank for really broad keywords: I just reviewed a client's new site and he was honestly hoping to get on page one for the keyword "fat loss" (good luck!). If he focused on 30-60 longtail keywords he'd have a good chance of ranking high for all of them--and the traffic would be more tightly focused (targeted traffic = $$). Example: "low impact yoga fat loss" or "blueberry vinegar fat loss tonic" (just made those up, but you get the point).
