I have 2 names I could use for an image hosting site ImageExchange (imagexc.com and imgxc.com). Is there anyone here who has tried this and done well? The other option would be to have a site which offers free downloads of copyright free images.
Image hosting sites are really not in my opion a good business. In order for it to be profitable, you need to use a huge amount of bandwidth! And people who use image hosting sites usually don´t click on the ads so much. But if you can come up with a new way to have advertising incorporated and still have users on the site, (like pay users for uploading images with you, for each 1000 views on an image they upload, they get $.20 or 50% of what you make or something. This way there is an incentive for people to use your site, and you may have a chance in this saturated market.
