What do you guys do to rank your sites in Google? I've been making nice sites since long but haven't made considerable money yet. I do all the things I read about seo. What I do is, create informational site about the niche, write long keyword targeted articles, do onpage seo i.e. interlinking, meta tags, etc. And then submit to random high pr directories. I do directory submission for about a week or so after site is live. I get good ranking and high traffic too. But after few weeks, the traffic gradually decreases from the se s. Tell me what do you do to promote your niche site by experience and if had worked so that your site makes atleast $1 a day. And for how long do you promote?
In additional to yours actions I do article submisiions as well. That is always good way get relevant links from relevant pages in time
SEO is a continuous process. You have to build relevant links gradually to make it natural to SE. Don't Bomb the search engines because it gives temporary rankings only...
A couple of things you could consider... Try to build/operate on only a handful of sites, which you are creating to make money. That way, you will have ample time to tend to each of the sites as they should be tended to. If you have too many sites, and too little time, you will fall short with your efforts to properly SEO them. Stay diligent. Don't give up. Continue to do the work you know will make your site an authority in its niche! Also, if you have not already, you should register your domains for more than 1 year at a time. Try to pay for your domains for at least 5 years. That act alone legitimizes your web site(s), and it's something that is very inexpensive, which could help you earn money more quickly! So, why not? It has been said that Google looks kindly on this.
SEO should continue as long as you want your site in a No.1 postiond SERPs. GEtting backlinks is the main SEO.
It can be frustrating for the SEO newbie, they do everything they've read but thing they always lack is the ability to bring plentiful "one way" quality links. To get lots of one way links I would recommend trying out the methods written here http://www.bluehatseo.com/blue-hat-technique-16-link-laundering-sites/ - the method allows you to bring plentiful of one way links from real websites almost on autopilot for free. Personally I use a variation on the technique. Here's a basic SEO plan thats gets straight to what works and cuts out the dross. 1) Firstly you have to pick a key phrase that is uncompetitive. Write down the keywords you would like to rank for and use a suggestion tool for some more ideas. Now download and install "seo for firefox" its an addon for firefox, if you don't have firefox installed. Go get it! 2) Once SEO for firefox is installed go to google and search for your first keyword with seo for firefox turned on. Under each listing you'll see a number of stats including "Y!links", this is how many links the websites have pointing to them (according to Yahoo). Write down the number of links on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd result. Do this for each of your keywords. 3) Go to Google keyword suggestion tool. Input your full keyword list. Make sure to select "Don't show ideas for new keywords. I only want to see data about the keywords I entered." under "filter options. Enter the turing code and hit enter. Select "Exact" from the drop down menu. 4) You will now see the avg searches performed per month for your chosen keywords in your country/language. Picking the right keyword: What you have now is all the data you need to decide which 1 keyword to target. Ideally you want to pick the keyword which gets the most searches but where the top 3 sites average under 4,000 links. Anything more could be difficult for a newbie to break into. If you just want to play around and learn more, I would highly suggest going for a term with extremely low number of links. If you can find a term where the top 3 only have 100 to 300 links this is great. By targeting low competition terms you are far more likely to see things happeninng allowing you to learn more - if you go for a term that is too competitive you won't see anything happening at all and you can't measure your ability and success. Obviously you don't want to pick a keyword that has nothing to do with your website, so just make sure the final keyword you decide on is relevant. Actually ranking: Onsite optimisation: In my experience there's just 2 things that make a big difference. Firstly make sure your site is readable by the search engine, no 302 redirects, frames or unvalidated code. Then by far the most important thing to do after that is change your Title tag. Make sure it contain the exact keyphrase you want to target. So if you're targeting 'after the event insurance'. Put "After The Event Insurance". If you like include a company name too "After The Event Insurance :: Box Legal", generally though, the key phrase on its own is best. There are other things to consider like optimising heading tags and making sure your content is slightly more targeted to your keyword term. But I'm gonna leave that to you to research. I'm just highlighting what I think is most important. Offsite Optimisation: This is the most important part, you must have targeted one way links to your website in order to rank well. This is where most SEO's fail because they are unable to gather plentiful links other than through article and directory submission. I mentioned bluehatseo's link laundering method. Here's my spin on it: 1) Setup a directory for others to submit to on a seperate host to your website. I use phpLD because it's got everything I need built in. 2) You want to setup the directory to be a reciprocal only directory. So webmasters must first give you a link before you'll approve them for the directory. 3) Instead of asking them to link back to the directory ask them to link to your client site (the site you want to promote). Give them an exact code which contains your keyword in the anchor text (you must include the keywords in the anchor text, in my opinion this does wonders for your rankings). If you're using phpLD you can just setup from the provided control panel as it has all the required features built in. 4) Make sure you get plenty of submissions to your drectory, this is easily achieved by placing your directory on popular lists. One of my favourites is "directorycritic.com", I get lots of submissions from that list. That's it, I get about 1 to 5 one way links a day from this method and it has proved to work in low competition niches (haven't tried higher competition niches yet). Some important tips 1) Make sure you vary the anchor text, you want to focus on your keyword but you need a mix, I learnt this the hard way when I got a site ranking well on Yahoo and then suddenly most of my links where devalued sending me to position 74. You must get other links too, MUST, MUST, MUST, otherwise the SE's WILL catch on and you WILL lose your rankings, so save yourself some trouble and mix your anchor text up, its not like it's hard work. 2) If your research shows your competitiors have 4,000 links don't build 100,000. This would look suspicious to an SE keep the figures low, I've seen sites with 4,000 links being beaten with sites with 300, usually because the site with 300 has a larger proportion of targeted links. Go slow and steady and monitor your rankings with a rank checking tool. Don't overdo it. If you're in position 25 wait a month before sending more links, just to see if Google will find more in the timelapse. If you overdo it, you may end up losing your rankings. 3) Highly recommended - modify the coding so that the directory sends topic related links only. I've done this by allowing my submitters to choose what category they wish to be listed in first and then on the next page providing code for a link to my client site but only if the submitter has chosen a related category. Phew! I didn't plan to write that much. Hope it helps.
I believe the biggest factor in SEO is the content of your site. Backlinks are key, but if you do not have relevant, original content, you are doomed. In my opinion, content is #1.
I disagree. Content is not number one. I see sites ranking very well with poor content. The search engines are advanced but they are still easily manipulated through links, just montior the rankings for "viagra" people manage to spam their sites to the top everyday without good content. On the other hand, good content promoted well will produce lots of links in itself. And the links are far less likely to be devalued at some point. But do not forget, it's not the content that got the ranking, it's the links. Thats why, for ranking well, the links are most important and not the content.
Thanks for your theory T-media!! Sounds verry good to me and I agree with you! You should build slowly the back links, that is the best way!
Thanks very much, T Media. Great guide you wrote there! I'll take your advices and see if my traffic improves.
SEO work is not a short term work. has to do hard work until get a stabled traffic. then be little slow no problem. If completely stopped will gradually loos all traffic
Sites that will achieve rakings longevity will have to have relevant, original content. Sure, there are ways to "beat the system" and there is always more than one way to skin a cat. However, to obtain rankings and keep them for years to come, your best bet is to always start with optimal content. And by content, I mean... 1. Verbiage 2. Images 3. Title, Description, & Keywords tags (though some are deemed unimportant) 4. Anchor Text 5. Alt Tags And, of course, keep it fresh by updating periodically. This is just my experience. We do not have, nor do we use backlinking as one of our main SEO techniques. Even so, we have one site in particular coming up by the week in Google's organic rankings. So, for me, content is by far the most important factor. Web sites can achieve success even without employing backlink campaigns.
Not strictly true. Your website must gain at least one backlink counted by Google, otherwise you'll eventually drop out of the index, at least thats whats alleged. Reference : http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/internet/google-ranking-factors.htm#negative-off the 4th point down.
- research keywords - use them in title and content - get backlink from high quality sites - use keywords in the link - submit to social media with your keywords as title that should get things started
This is what I think. If you are just wanting your website rank high, then start a strong link campaign. In do time, you will be ranked high, but this does not mean you will have quality traffic. I know most people do this, I know I do. I tend to click on the first link I come across, but if it does not have good content, I'm gone. But content is key and high page ranking is even better. If your page is ranked high with good content, once people visit it, that equals quality traffic, and maybe even money
