    Hi all,

Anyone heard of the progress of MS Windows 7, the next OS? I know MS started on it pretty fast a while back when Vista started getting some bad reviews and even some rejects from some major PC makers.

Microsoft, in a Wednesday post to its PDC 2008 Website, said it plans to use the event to highlight its progress on the Windows 7 kernel, networking, hardware and devices, and user interface. They were abt to show a preview of the beta version i guess.

some features that i came across in couple of websites would be Microsoft has said that Windows 7 will include multi-touch powered tools for editing and arranging digital photos, as well as interactive mapping applications similar to the Concierge offering developed by Microsoft's Surface team.

Thanks for the site Mailman55, and yes, I use XP myself and won't use Vista!! I beta tested Vista and hated it the whole time. The first so many builds were like 4.5 GB in size and all I did was posted to them that is was super bloated with code, that they needed to trim it up...A LOT, and they did as time went and it was still slow, a bit faster at the end, but not good enough, and it ended up about 2.5 GB, still too much code!! And it still takes forever to simply open a folder wi Windows Explorer, so I do not use it, I still have it on another partition, and will probably open it sometime and get the SP1 that's supposed to help, but it's like I'm burned by it and don't want to use it. I hope Win 7 is going to be more of a post XP, but I feel sure it'll be a post Vista with a lot of surface stuff on it for the upcoming touch screen technology....So it will probablt suck, until they get it right or someone beats them to it!!

Thanks for the info! I didn't know that MS had started the next version on wondows. I'll be interested to see when the beta pictures come out. I hope it'll be better than Vista though (I use XP Home).

MS has been working on it for a while, since Vista was seen to be causing more problems than solving! I think from the screen shots I've seen, it just looks like it's on a Vista platform. But that's usually how one starts, is from a base kernel of the last OS...

I have heard that Microsoft is going to release Windows 7 by spring on 2010, a while ago they had said that it would be released by 2009, which they have since taken back
