    With php, a certification only shows people what a tool you are. Its experience that counts m8.

    Although i agree with you to some degree, still some employers look at certifications highly. I myself is not a fan of certifications but still some employers think otherwise.

    @OP

    i think zend is the best choice

    Certifications worth obtaining cost money.
    Find a company you want to work for, and find out what certifications, if any, they require.

    Otherwise you're just wasting your time and money unless you're doing it as a guage to find out how much you know.

    If you need something to show to companies, make it a portfolio. A portfolio displays your skill and experience, while a certification shows that you are good at taking tests and can shell out some money for a piece of paper.

    PS. If a company requires certification and does not accept your skill without it, then get out of there, they wont last long in the current economic era.

    I agree with logylaps certification is secondary....the primary thing which we should concentrate is to develop our skills in our own field and to be a jack of it..

    Unless you do it for free (check the PHP conferences close to your place, they sometimes offer it to their visitors), it's not really worth it.
    I have a PHP4 Zend certification, and instead of proving my skills on top on my work experience, employers tend to use it against me during interviews ("So you're not certified PHP5?")
    Now I don't tell which PHP version it is unless asked ;)
    Remember it's a multiple choice questionnaire, there's an element of chance in it, and it will never replace a real test in situation.
