    Pricing. If you only want to host a few sites but want root access for developement, it doesn't make sense to pay $xxx/mo, of which $25 alone is the cost of cPanel (if you use that). Additionally, you do normally get the resources you pay for, unless the host uses OpenVZ (which most do) and has cheap pricing - clearly overselling.

    If you'd like to know the REAL answer, you should rephrase the question.
    I'd delete the subjective/personal adjectives (expensive vs. cheap) and instead I'd put something like "in the same price".

    Everyone wants to buy Cheap.
    Everyone wants to sell Expensive.

    it depends. If I wan to host something crap, a cheap dedicated is fine. But if I want to host some critical data, rather go with reliable, regardless of the price.

    i would actually go with expensive VPS because atleast it will be of good quality instead of unreliable dedicated servers

    See guys in a vps u will never get high processor usage but in dedicated its fully urs

    Why should I choose offshore and pay more if I can use shared to host something legal in US ? Oh my..
