Wikipedia: Someone who works for everyone (s)he could provide help to, according to his/her knowledges & experience.
In my opinion it's someone who lays on the couch all day long while someone else supports them. Oh wait you said freelancer...NOT freeloader....Nevermind
A freelancer is a person who is self employed. Freelance work is used in many different professions, but most commonly a freelancer works in the fields of writing and editing, photography, web design, graphic arts, or computer programming. In any given profession, freelancers sell or contract their work to a client rather than being employed by a business. A freelancer's career commonly begins with a business or agency at which the freelancer gains experience and contacts in a particular field. Hope above info helpful to you. DON.
I consider myself one, it's a person who is good in various professions, whether it be writing, drawing, computer stuff, raio stuff, or whatever. It's like the person can do everything, but doesn't want to pursue any of it, rather all of it at the same time.
A freelancer is someone who is able to provide a service and is willing to provide that service to anyone that will pay them.
It is a loosely used word but as many stated, it is normally someone who offers a service in the open market without working for just one employer. It is most commonly applied to writers and photographers. However, it can be any type of service from web design to computer technology and more.
