Hey Guys, I've been reading MMO advice for a couple months and finally decided to take action... Not sure if this was the way to go but I had to start somewhere! The website is http://www.tinafeysarahpalin.com. Obviously I'm trying to capitalize on the recent popularity of the SNL skits. I reckon that I'm probably about 6 weeks late but oh well... Being a complete newbie, I've learnt a ton going through the site creation process. I'm talking BASICS - domain and hosting purchase, installing and fiddling with wordpress, throwing together a crappy header etc... Kindly check out my site and tell me what you think! Here's my 2 cents: Design: Looks kinds of bland to me... Originally I had some more pics on the homepage. I removed them though, as I felt their relationship to the Adsense banners may been against Captain G's TOS. Content: Not sure if my writing is engaging or not... I know there's not enough in the way of articles yet... Ads: Basic Adsense... Seemed like a good place to start. That being said, the $100 minimum payment seems VERY far away at this point. I think you should add back the pics. In fact the trend nowadays seems to prefer a good mix of pics + content so that it will appeal to visitors. Overall, I think once the pics are there, it should be more presentable.
Agreed with him totally, actually it lacks presentability. that would make you design decent enough. work on it. keep it up.
The design is not bad but I agree with what has been said thus far I think the site would look much better if you added some pictures to it.
Thanks for the advice guys... Here's my thing about the pics. The template I'm using places them right below the Google Adsense banners. Now obviously I want pictures of Tina Fey on the homepage... The end result is a picture of Tina Fey with an Adsense caption below it that says "Is this Tina Fey or Sarah Palin? Click here to find out!" I believe this goes against Google's TOS? I could be wrong... Maybe I'll just stick some pictures of puppies on there... Everyone loves puppies and I can't see that getting me blacklisted. Thanks again, Jiffy22
Putting "click here" is against the TOS. You have a good idea with the site, but you should be focusing on videos more than written content. Try embedding some SNL videos from Hulu to spice things up.
