THIS amazing image of a mammoth spider devouring a bird was taken in the backyard of a property near Cairns. The image, which is being cirulated via email worldwide, is real, according to wildlife experts, The Cairns Post reported. The photo, believed to have been taken earlier this week, shows the spider clenching its legs around a lifeless bird trapped in a web at a property near Atherton, west of Cairns. Joel Shakespeare, the head spider keeper at NSW's Australian Reptile Park, has told ninemsn the spider was a golden orb weaver. "Normally they prey on large insects, it's unusual to see one eating a bird," he said. Mr Shakepeare said he had seen golden orb weaver spiders as big as a human hand but the northern species in tropical areas were known to grow larger. Mr Shakespeare told ninemsn the bird, a chestnut-breasted mannikin which appears frozen in an angel-like pose in the pictures, is likely to have flown into the web and got caught. "It wouldn't eat the whole bird," he said.
I don't normally post threads so close together, but I couldn't resist this one too today! A pro hockey game in Sweden was delayed briefly when fans of Stockholm-based AIK littered the ice with dildos to taunt Leksand star Jan Huokko. Earlier this year, Huokko’s phone had been stolen, and an explicit video clip of him and his girlfriend circulated around Sweden’s part of the Internet. AIK fans also unfurled a banner reading “Bend over bitch!â€, which was accompanied by a giant inflatable penis. Vulgar chants directed at Huokko continued throughout the match, which Leksand ended up losing 3-2. AIK club management was aware of their fans’ plans for knocking Huokko off his game, but elected not to intervene. “We’d also heard mention of it, but we decided that it would only be worse if we went out and told the fans they were absolutely not allowed to throw dildos on the ice,†said AIK club head Mats Hedenström to the newspaper. “I’m not saying you can’t throw dildos on the ice, but I’m not not saying it, either. And I’d like to add a couple of less than subtle winks, just in case it’s not clear that I want fans to throw dildos on the ice.â€
I don't think the spider can eat a meal that large. The web must have been super sticky to trap an animal that size. That is why men avoid spiders at all cost.
Haha, I like your threads, and posts. +rep in a place where it counts. I'm so good, I got you to a GREEN blob.
Cool pic mate! I have a youtube vid for you I watched some time ago. Your spider is childsplay compared to this one.... http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=h8DXzjvnzPk&feature=related
what a nice shot, cant tell if it's authentic or not, but i doubt it can digest that meal, spiders dont eat meals, they dissolve the meal first before they suck the nutrients
Australia has a lot of large nasty spiders such as the Kingsman and the bird-eating spider which gets as big a sdinner plate (yuch!)
