Well, if you have a good domain name in mind, they will say you that you need to pay for it WTF?! If I had money, I would buy a .com or .org x)

Nothing in the world is free. Free stuff is far more expensive than paid stuff.

Personally I always associate the .co.cc with spam sites that are setup by noobs, who will inevitably come on here asking why they aren't making millions with the site. That's the sort of person I associate with the co.cc domains, although I still think of them as domains rather thans subdomains.

Don't quite understand this comment. Plenty of things in the world are free, and the whole point of it being free is that it is less expensive than paying

They are definately subdomains. their website is www .co. cc and they are providing subdomains on .co.cc.
But they are best one out in the market with good looking subdomains. at least they sound somewhat close to real domains.

Amen to that! Just had a friend who got one of those "free domain with webhosting" things. When he tried to upgrade to a paid domain, they wanted $700 and $75 a year for it! Then they wouldn't let him transfer his domain to another provider. He ended up having to change the name of his domain, which was a real hassle, as he has about 7,000 members. Luckily, he was able to get an abbreviated version of his old name from GoDaddy, so it wasn't too bad, but he had to transfer all his content (over 200 pages and a forum) to another webhost, which took a long time, and a lot of trouble.

There is nothing that is truly free, folks. There is always a cost.

.co.cc charge a fees for 'premium' name, but one can easily secure free name by adding hyphen -, or add more words to it. .co.cc is good for those who want free domain name to links to their blogger.com blog site instead of using blogger default long name: xxxx.blogspot.com or xxxx.co.cc - the later is seen better.

How about .tk? Are they still taking applications? I used to have one, but didn't use it for awhile, so it expired.

It is free, but it isn't a domain. It is a subdomain of http://www.co.cc - a domain called 'co' with the 'cc' tld. Not a true domain.

The keyword in the domain name or in this case sub domain name is free. If there are no strings, then its a good cheap deal.

Just think of it as a permanent link shortener, or a free method to access your server :D
