I know you believe that. Most wealth SPREADERS believe that what others earn does not belong to them. I can see why you would make a statement like that. Do I really need to get all remedial on you and explain that definition again? Its none of your business how much she, I or anyone else spends of our own money. The more you have, the more you spend. Did it ever occur to you that if you stopped complaining and being jealous of other people's success and spent some time actually working you too might have more to spend on nice things too? You've got a chronic case of class envy my friend and it shows.
The first part of pizza's post specifically pointed out she was not spending her money. The 150k came from campaign contributions, which makes your response to the second part of pizza's post off the mark. There was another thread started about Palin buying diapers at Wal-Mart. So, when she spends her own money, I guess she does shop where everyone else does.
If she has taxes due, she will pay them. You cannot avoid the IRS, no matter who you are. Even the famous get knocked down a rung or two. Still not sure what your point is. I think he was being facetious when he posted that. I could be wrong. Anyone, no one can argue a public voting record. All three things whether you agree or disagree, were unfortunate necessities. All likely could have been avoided entirely if hindsight and a time machine were applied.
she will try to avoid paying the taxes on the 150k. That is why they want to give it to charity. elitists trying to avoid paying her taxes
(Courtesy of Earlpearl, from his thread on McCain's changed views over the last year or so). I just don't understand how McCain would wish to distinguish himself from Obama on the issue of a consistent approach to progressive taxation. By the way, as a point of departure, I do find Adam Smith's notion on the subject interesting: I'm currently re-opening some truly dusty thoughts on the very nature of classical liberalism. I merely say here that, as usual, the notion that somehow Democrats are the party of the fiscally irresponsible, and Obama is "the" redistributor, is false, by any objective evaluation of the historical record of the GOP (since Reagan's trebling of the budget deficit, let's say), and McCain's stand on opposing Bush's tax cuts, and favoring the very plan that Obama now proposes. Both, in this way, have some early support from Adam Smith himself.
So what. We all do what we can to mitigate tax liability. Whether it be through donations, tax filings, whatever. Not everyone believes that paying higher taxes is a patriotic duty. What we save in taxes generally equates to a larger benefit to others in the way of either charitable giving, job creation or the purchase of goods and services. The Clintons did not pay taxes for 14 years prior to becoming President. What happened there? I don't see anyone crying about that. And they did not donate anything, they simply did not pay their taxes. There is a difference between mitigating tax liability and flat out refusing to pay taxes. I'm just curious, have you ever filed a tax return in the US?
And I do not want to pay for people that do not pay taxes, or think I should pay more because I make more than them. Tax me, people lose jobs. Its pretty much that simple. BTW, I take you comment to mean that you've never filed a US tax return. You're just the type of person that Obama appeals to. Its you guys he's giving the tax rebates to. The ones that don't pay taxes. Enjoy!
I think it would be more fair to have a flat tax with no deductions. The poor, middle class and upper tax brackets would be eliminated and we would all be created the same in the new system.
He'd have to win ever state Bush won in 2004 for it to be a "land slide". Bingo. But not according to Obama. He thinks that when you create a flat tax, you'd have to raise the consumption tax (sales tax) to over 40%. He also believes that again, those that consume but do not make as much are some how being punished and that the rich should be paying for them. There is no way of getting around socialism in its finer forms. Democrats raise taxes and spend money. Its what they are good at. We don't need more tax and spend liberals. We've got enough of them as it is, and quite a few republicans that have let them go unchecked for years.
Scott McClellan, the former White House press secretary is voting for obama http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/10/23/former-bush-aide-voting-for-obama/
So what do you want? A bozo button? A lot of people are voting for Obama. I voted for democrat for mayor a few years ago. He ended up being impeached. You're point?
I just don't get it. Why should the rich have to pay a higher percentage of tax than the poor? It is discrimination period. The government is penalizing hard work and desire.
its good for you. it is good for the economy. it is good for the country. more people will have more money to spend and that fuel the economy.
