Search engine optimization is a popular topic for many reasons. However, one thing in particular is very interesting to me concerning SEO - which is, what makes an individual an SEO expert and/or considered an SEO expert? I would be interested in knowing what others consider as needed accomplishments or qualifications for someone to be considered an SEO expert? Thanks
SEO is a continuous task which need passion and hard analysis for any website. One can never say that i am expert as there is always chance for improvement specially in SEO field. But expertise can be measure based on previous experience, knowledge of current trends in internet marketing and way of handling problem.
Earn more than the average plumber from SEO. (than the average plumber earns from plumbing, not from SEO) This excludes 70% of so-called SEO 'gurus', and 93.5% of SEO bloggers.
years of experience and a proven track record. i see plenty of so called SEO experts coming to this forum asking help on how to SEO their client's sites, these people are anything but SEO experts
I thought we all were experts No seriously, I knew a wise man once with a handful of PR3's and PR4's earning $10k+ / month via organic serps. I also knew an unwise man with a PR8 (legit... from a handful of high PR paid links) that got just 400 organic referrals a month. Food for thought.
I call it SEO expert if they dominate the search engine popular keyword, or targeted keyword. PR is not about SEO, SEO master/experts could get organic traffic without buying traffics.
Well, I don't really know what makes a SEO expert. I don't consider myself as an expert but I am charging more than 200 companies on a monthly base for my work since years and none of them thinks in renouncing the service. Statistically I think (never counted them all) I am responsable for thousands of # 1 positions and thens of thousands top ten rankings, but an expert - I don't know if that is enough to be called an expert. What I know is that my methods work well and clients are satisfied, which is the only thing that counts in business.

It is relative and depends on the company you are keeping. When it is just me and my girlfriend...I am the SEO expert. ( i do have my page ranking on page 1)..But here (DP) there are many people who if compared to me are a lot more knowledgeable.. A lot of people are confused about SEO...Who can you trust? I trusted someone with their SEO knowledge once and it probably cost me 2-3 months of high rankings ..because I believed that this person was an expert.. Now he is not dishonest..he still thinks he is an expert..but when your lively hood depends on actual rank..not ripping people off with crap seo service, you soon learn how to get your traction.
I think SEO Experts are the one's who are influential for their knowledge they share and ability to get their sites ranked in ultra competitive niches.
yeah I prefer that words I agree with it. SEO Expert is a person who get first page result with great traffic... But I guess they need some spesific keyword too.
I think discovering who the real experts are is the bigger challenge, considering all the SEO advice offered in the forums. Some good, some bad, some just regurgitated anecdotes. Now that is something that should be considered. SEO isn't about traffic, good SE Rankings and PR. Conversion is one thing that SEO experts should be one of their top priority. So I think you will be called SEO expert when you get to rank well on SEs, attain good amount of traffic, and to convert that traffic into good conversions as well...
