How do video dominated sites much like you tube do SEO? When content is king, where does that leave a site with more videos than text?
Youtube makes millions a day and spends twice that in bandwidth.... give us a link or no one with a clue will be able to help with said business model and bandwidth, let alone SEO. Nigel EDIT: I have not seen the figures since since google bought it but I maintain my position.
so supposing you were to do seo for a site with homepage video and barely enough space for text content. what would your strategy be if the video had to be left alone? How would you go about optimizing the site?
nigel lew, thanks for your interest in my query. the reason im asking is not because of big video sites like youtube exactly. just curious to know how to go about competing with a content-rich competitor's site if you were to take over doing seo for a site that is already set up with a big video on the homepage, navbar at the top, product link column on the left and about three paragraphs of text content just below the video. How would you do seo if the layout was to be left alone and text content is not to be extended below current height of sample site - lectern company competitor's homepage would be lecternsandpodiumsdotcom or amplidotcom. im talking about an ecommerce site here. correct me if i am wrong but most probably, a good thing to do would be to have the store show up on the homepage right like the competitor's sites above. but if that's not possible, what would be the best way to go about doing seo?
Hi iemanja, You can optimize video site through full of content. You have to give the plain text for video site in that text you can put links, description and many more promoting SEO keywords. In this plain text file you can give near about 250 to 300 words.
hi mishreonnet, do you mean to say surround the video area with text? i read somewhere that it helps putting your video in a text surrounded area. anyone here know how helpful this would be or if it's not helpful at all?
yoo cannot top the competitor whenn your competitor have more content than oyur esp. in google. and another thing is that google occupies youtube so it's sure that it will give it priority. but also if you can have a lot of content and better specific in starting phase than you can be grown up later.
ya content is king but as know search engines like google if you have a site only for vistors not for serach engine that you must rank well but you have to wait. As if you are a vedio showing site like you tube then your content is viedos that you are displaying so if the quality of the vedios is gud means they are full filling the requirments of vistors then you must rank well as look for which keyphaesre you are at serps and check your bounce rate for those keywords.
The first thing you need to do is adding a video sitemap to your google webmasters account, which'll make google know that your site is a video site. So your pages are indexed better and included in the google video search. However, the phrase 'content is the king' is not so true for a video site in terms of seo.
yea, i think a lot of other people out there are curious to know about how to manipulate videos for seo. as for a video sitemap, a google webmaster's account and a youtube channel, ill look it all up. thanks guys!
One way to approach this is to brand your videos and paste them all over the place like youtube, dailymotion, flixya, etc. Embedding vids in forum posts helps quite a bit as well. This is really sort of a viral situation at first. SEO is sorta tough for that demographic and takes quite a while. hope that helps, Nigel
