How long ago? Yahoo will generally pick up backlins faster than google: google can take months or never to recognise a backlink especially low value ones from social sites

Have to checked in Google webmasters tool if the site has been crawled and indexed (two different things). As you would know, it gives you the crawl dates in there. Submitting a xml sitemap could also help your cause. What is the url of the website??

Create xml site map, then submit to webmaster tools, do bookmarking.

Hmm.. I've been having the exact same problem.

I link to my new site from 5 sites (digitalpoint signature, a pr2 site, pr4 and some directories), and it has yet to be crawled :( Waited for one long week now... Damn I'm getting depressed.

How old is your website? If the website is pretty new it will take some time initially.

Submitting to quality directories instead of link building will get you better results.

There should be B2b websites and Genuine directories which could specialize the type of business you are promoting. Try adding your website in those. It should help you/your client get genuine leads. It works for me that way.

Try typing the product you are trying to sell/promote in the search engines. The directories which show up in the SERP are the best ones
