PR went from 4 to 0

My PR went from 4 to 0, overnight.

I'm going to request a reconsideration of my site, but first I would like to know if there is any way I can have an expert take a look at my site, and let me know what might have caused the PR loss.

I have followed Google's "Webmaster Guidelines" to my best knowledge.

    Any help????.......Please.

How long did you sustain the PR4?

Were you selling links/linking to un-related sites?

I had my PR4 for about 1 year now.

NO, I'm not selling or buying any links. All my link exchanges are with relevant sites.

That's was very surprising to me, as I have not done any illegal stuff.

Hi ... let us know what google tells you. After a year or so at PR4, my site dropped to PR3, wobbled back and forth between 4 and 3, ending at 3. I have no idea why, but do know too many of my links are non-reciprocal, with PR0 + PR1 sites. Do the arithmetic. A lot of 0s add nothing to PR; lots of PR1s add tiny amounts. In the end, I suspect the 0s and 1s edged out juice from P4+. Am targeting PR4+ links for now, plus discovered my site listed in DMOZ, which might help. Good luck.

I don't think you'll here back from Google. They are way too important, to worry about a PR4

Check whether sites linking to you still have their PageRank, and whether they are selling links, linking to irrelevant sites and doing too many paid posts.

You may have lost some valuable backlinks, maybe some sites which were linking
to you in the past has removed your link or they have lost their pr.

I had about 7000 back links to my home page, which just disappeared over night.
I know as a fact, that can not be possible, because one of the link exchanges I made was with my other site.
And the link is still up.

I don't think that is normal to lose 7000 back links, from more then 100 different sources, in one day. That means that over 100 sites removed my link from their site, and all at the same time.

I also notice that the cach snapshot of my site is not available either. (it was available a few days ago)

But the weird thing is that some of my other pages still have PR and back-links.

It must be something pretty drastic if it dropped by 4 ranks. I have a couple PR2's and they easily maintain their rank with very little backlinks and no links to other sites.

I think you would have sold links and written sponsored posts. You ought to pay for it... Anyhow, what is your niche?

I do NOT buy or sell links.

All the incoming and outgoing links are the result of link-exchanges and directory submissions.

    NO buying or selling links.

    Anybody else can help me????

What is the reason the all incoming links (more then 7000) just disappeared overnight.
I have checked every single site that I made link exchange with, and my link is still on their site.
In my webmaster account I had more then 7000 incoming links to my home page, but it's showing 0.
I know that is the reason for my PR to go from 4 to 0.

But what I don't know, why my Google webmaster account just "deleted" all the incoming links to my home page.

    PLEASE HELP.

goal442 it seems like the best think you can do is to send a reinclusion request to google. If your page is not cached it can be banned and deleted from the index.

Btw i remember reading on one of Google blogs a statement from them saying (bottomline) "No website owner will be punished for any links directed to their site (unless its a paid link)". It would be ridiculus because competitors would create "bad sites" and place their opponents link on that site to take them down. Google can never judge good or bad link by automated methods unless they release a bad sites list officially.

While talking about competitors bear in mind that there is a link in GWT page to "report spam". I have no idea how people at google consider these reports. I mean anyone can report their opponent to win a competition. However logically they "should" send you a message through GWT and warn you if that happens.

Send a reinclusion request explaining them your side of the story and wait. Keep it short, informative and honest. It can take several weeks. When you are dealing with Google best you can do is to be patient.

    Good luck

    Thank you very much rep,
I was already thinking about sending a reinclusion request to google. I just haven't had time. I'm going to do that ASAP.

I know that I have not done anything wrong (sell or buy links). I had 3 outgoing one way links to some of the site that I really like, but I deleted the links, as Google might think that I'm getting paid for those links (Which I'm not).

But thank you for your reply. I really appreciate it.

    Thanks.

reconsideration request is useless, its not for PR (its for indexing and related issues) and you won't get any reply.

If you never sold links and were not involved in link exchanges then it should be back in next PR update. And really,

if there is any black hat, purchase traffic, pay for linking, & doing a link bombing then google can panalise you
