sorry for the wrong title of the thread...its suppose to be meta description... when i search microscope universe...on google... this site pulls up as number 1 microscope universe... what i dont get is that it that not show the meta-description: <meta name="description" content ="If you are searching for all types of microscopes and microscopes for sale then we can offer our great selection of high quality and cheap microscopes."> which u can see from viewing the source of the site... help please...
LOL, is a really weir situation... Google showing a first place result without any description. Weird...
i know...this site is recently updated maybe a month ago... and its also a wordpress site... i really dont get it...
You can't control what will google show as site description on SERP. Some sites showing their title, others showing certain part of their content, mostly it depends on search query. All we have to do is make our description and contents well written along with the keywords we're targeting.
Yup, but in this case, the description and everithing else seems to be fine. The weird thing is Big G is not showing "Nothig", no description, no text snippet, nothing...
could it be that when google cahed this site it had no meta description?...but they could have taken a snippet from the content of the main page... but mostly they will get in the description...but in that moment it had no description... i guess all i can do is edit the description a little more and just wait...
It's even whackier in Yahoo. There it comes up first and second, showing the home page first and an inner page second. But click on the two links, and both take you to the home page! The first link has no description. The second link has a description totally different from the one in "View Source".
It is the page title! Your page title is being shown there but yes that is weird how no description. I know google likes to using the page title mostly on wordpress sites to show as the text in the SERP listings. You should add a little more to the page title tag, if you want more to show there.. I recommend the All In One SEO wordpress plugin for making killer custom title tags for all post and pages.. It lets you make all unique titles on all posts and pages. Maybe google will than add the description text? Boulder
Have you used GA yet? If not I suggest you to enable it for your site, in first view - of 139 links in Google, description is identical "If you are searching for all types of microscopes and microscopes for sale then we can offer our great selection of high quality and cheap microscopes" and you may get penalized or loose the indexing if you don't rectify that at the earliest. Each page should have unique description (suggested) Not sure when you added description to index page, so it is possible that Google has not visited your site recently with description and thus not showing up anything yet. Thx Thx
@boulder: ok thanks ill try that... @rena: this site has been launched 3 years ago, but this is the 3rd revision, that last one was just a month ago... @pubdomainshost.com: what is GA?.. thats what im thinking too, i think google chached something else, or it got messed up upon indexing, and not yet refreshed its cache, but its been a month i think... thanks for the respone...
here is another mind twister...when u search cheap microscopes, same site is number 10 but look at the title its "Discount Microscope Store" in the serp...
