Go get Gallery, an open source software, http://gallery.menalto.com
It's completely free and very powerful, it also let you sell whatever you want and keep everything via the Checkout plug-ins.

Promote promote promote :) You would promote any other type of work, why not your photography? There is a ton of great advice on the marketing board to help give you ideas on how to best market and promote your site.

I would suggest submitting your photos to both www.istockphotos.com and www.photrade.com.

However I would say your entering a very saturated market place. Best of luck with it.

    Cheers,

I have been selling my photos on micro stock photo sites and make a few hundred a month with them.. You only make a dollar or two per sale, but there is a great amount of exposure on micro stock photo sites. You just need a model release for any pictures of people. I recommend dreamstime, istockphoto, 123rf, stockxpert, and bigstockphoto in that order. Good luck.
