Is position is wrong. Qualifications should be the only factor used to determine if someone gets hired for a job or if a student gets admitted. Why should the standard be lowered to help certain minorities. [/QUOTE] . Who actually cares who powell is voting for?
Apparently a cadre of really freaked out, right wing, erstwhile supporters, foaming at the mouth to ascribe Powell's support to "race" - when if he had endorsed McCain, the same folks would have said, "See? Such a reasoned, honorable statesman."
I have never given Powell any admiration or have been awestruck. Besides, what is wrong casting a vote for a particular candidate base on skin tone?
Thatr's just silly. I'm not gonna vote for McCain because I think Palin's hot... it's because I think Cindy McCain is hot. Let's keep this straight. :-p
Powell is one of the most important political figures of our time. He was a general, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, national security advisor and secretary of state. Besides all that, people on both sides actually like him, and even those on neither side. I can see Powell's endorsement pushing those who are leaning Obama but are hesitant because they haven't known him for as long as they've known McCain, and they're unsure of his experience and qualifications. Powell, having served in all those capacities that I posted above, is in a position to know whether someone is ready to be president. I also don't believe Powell would endorse Obama based on race if he didn't think he is ready.
I think a better reason to vote for McCain is because you think Tina Fey is hot. If McCain/Palin get elected I think we'll see a lot more Tina.
Rob, please don't misunderstand me - and I'm sorry if I conveyed otherwise, but my point was to show how ridiculous Biz's attempt has become. To say "who cares if they vote for him because of his race" is about as worthy as "hey, she's hot!, what's wrong with voting for her because of it!?" It comes on the heels of Biz's frenetic attempts to malign Powell's endorsement as coming down to "race." Nothing more. LOL! - sorry, missed the Cindy McCain tag (I do need to slow down). Cindy scares me. I keep wondering whether I'm going to end up in a Mel Brooks movie, with Cindy McCain as the maitresse du chateau. My wife has given me the pass on having a newfound crush on Fey. But I feel such deep, deep shame - I've got the joneses for her now. Please help me...help...help..
Sorry to break it to you logic, Come November, Tina Fey will have less of a roll on SNL. They do need to find an actress to portray Michelle. The Republicans female are more attractive than their Democratic counterparts. Vote Cindy/Palin
Not a problem... just using the available straight line. Besides I really DO think Cindy McCain's hot. The fact that she owns a beer distributorship is only icing on the cake. I do have my priorities.
Not ridiculous at all, just different from your opinion which is usually guilt ridden and false. Powell is voting for Obama due to skin tone and Powell's footnote in history.
In your honest opinion, is there anything wrong with not voting for him because he's bi-racial? And Cindy McCain has my vote for hottest on the trail this year. Palin is "cute" and has a nice body, but Cindy is most certainly more worthy of MILFhood. Ahh there we go. Colin Powell is now just a footnote in history His decision to support Barack took him from a favorite Republican showpiece to being insignificant. Nice. Hey "who cares" who Powell endorsed right? (but fine print just for the record it was based on race)
Not if you give beer second billing, my friend. Oh, sorry - you mean her Budweiser distributorship. As long as we're talking about water, and not beer, well ok then.
I prefer my Fire from something other than Ice, meself. Well, hell - a guy can dream, can't he. In truth, I'm a very confused German-French guy. Brewer/French Chef - nee Boyer. "Boyer," all these years, thought it was my French Great-something granddad settling in the U.S. Turns out it was a German cattleman given the name "bouvier," who settled in that part of France, before moving his brood to the States. My seriously obsessed beer brewing side has been at war with my seriously obsessed burgundy swillin' side ever since.
Damn....too bad I don't give enuff rep to everyone under the sun. That comment is sooooooooooo rep worthy. I wonder if I stole your line and said it outloud and publicly if I could get a few free cases...just a couple...no big deal.
