Pagerank on dropped domains

    Is it possible to maintain a high valid pagerank on dropped domains? Normally, when you buy a dropped domain with a valid pagerank, it drops after googles next pr update.

    Is there some way to avoid this?

    If the backlinks stay up, no problem. If they don't, then you have a problem.

    But is backlinks (and content) the only things that counts when it comes to PR? The reason I ask is that I've got a PR0 domain with 21,000 backlinks and a PR4 with only 20 backlinks. So why is the one with only 20 backlinks a PR4 and the one with 21,000 backlinks still only PR0?
    Is there anything else that dominates the PR outcome?

    Yes there is more to PR than just back links. You can have tons of backlinks and have no or less PR while a few backlinks can give you a high PR.

    In essence Google does not treat every backlink (vote) as the same. A link from a authority website for example can be equivalent to 100s of links. The quality of links in terms of relevancy is of great importance.

    But at the end of the day PR as an indicator is just useless for SEO. PR has nothing to do with rankings or traffic and therefore it renders itself in effective in those terms.

    Hope you will be clear about PR. and if your backlinks are not dropped and can get your website to the same quality you had before then it will not affect you as it will rise agin in next update

    Make quality content, build relevant back links, then you gain PR.

    80% it will be dropped. After you get the domain, try to fill content ASAP. try to find the history of the domain, find out what site is it. Im sure if you do that, at least it will just dropped 1 point page rank not more. But if you make it better including link building. You still can keep the PR :D
