So around this time of year, all of the lower quality LLLL.com's are being dropped unless renewed. Realistically, we can assume that quite a lot will drop, and not be sold, auctioned off, or renewed. I judge this opinion because I noticed someone just luckily get about $8 each for a fair sized lot of lower quality ones (double premium). So do you guys believe that a lot of them will drop and they will lose all value (the lower quality ones)? I really do, especially with the economy as it is now, it would take a large, risky investor to come pick em up. Discuss!
They drop, but they are being caught by domainers at Snapnames, Pool or Namejet. The low end will suffer... but the very top will remain strong.
dmi that is true but don't you think no one will really grab a lot of them from Snap, or they will just go for like $12 ea?
The whole LLLL.com thing was a bubble craze that was triggered by Domain Tasting. The Domain Tasting process was keeping domains out of the business and Domain Kiting was perpetually keeping domains from dropping. Most of them will drop. Some of the good ones have value but for most of them, they are a complete loss for their registrants. As soon as I get some time, I'll do an indepth analysis of the LLLL.com thing as I think that a lot of the LLLL.com domains were registered well before the start of the craze. Regards...jmcc
jmcc I value your input and full agree on you, and that's probably what happened this time last year. They got all bought up from the hype, right after that the tasting came into play and they rose in value over the next 6 months or so, we are finally seeing the bubble pop. The question is, with addition to the market currently, will the relatively no end user quad premiums really fetch anything? It's the same as weak LLL's, we just have to figure out where the edges of the bubble are.
back to superdomena, are you really comfortable saying there are a noticeable amount of LQ going for even $25-50? I mean jvqz.com kxzq.com etc I recently sold a trip + y.com for only like $23, the next day there was a $60 or $70 offer though
They are getting dropped as but DMI said, most of them get snapped up quickly. There used to be plenty of threads selling them just after they all got exhausted, now those threads have reduced to a trickle.
I didn't mean the registration patterns in the last year, SunHunter, A lot of 4L domains were registered before the hype and before the bubble even started. The site in my signature actually has the searchable hosting history of each domain in com/net/org/biz/info/ie/mobi/asia and the records cover registrations back to 2000. If I get the chance over the next day or so, I'll write the SQL to do an analysis of 4L .com registration trends and patterns. It should be interesting to map the numbers of 4L domains held by various hosters over the life of the bubble. The domain tasting issue is actually separate from this one as domain tasting has been around for years. It spiked in 2007 when millions of domains were being registered and dropped each day. It is just that a lot of 4L domains were bought before the hype even started. The weak 3L domains are better than most of the 4Ls because of the real rarity value. Even the prices for 3L domains have been falling recently. The no end user 4Ls tend to be flipped from domainer to domainer. It is the same principle as the stockmarket - that of the greater fool. The reality is that these trends or crazes happen. Another one was the registration of domains with the letter 'r' at the end instead of 'er' - a lot of this was pushed by the success of flickr.com but I've also seen these type of domains drop once the general craze fizzled out. The 4L bubble appears worse because there are so many of them dropping. Regards...jmcc
jmcc, I did not try to compare weak LLL.com and good LLLL.com against one and another, but rather I meant: High end of 4 L .com can see a good amount (reseller/end user) Low end of 3 L .com can see a good amount (reseller/end user) I didn't mean a direct similarity in value, but the fact that after 3 letters it starts to fade, and having four weak letters, or even 1 weak letter and 3 good letters is very rough for a domain. As far as this time last year, it is when they were all bought up (the weak ones left) and what I mean is most of them are probably going to drop, as a lot of people won't bother with them (and a lot of them are at - won't say - but a terrible registrar)
We're successfully catching a lot of LLLL.com domain drops at the moment, some 300 or so in the past few weeks, as well as many other short domains and exceptionally swiftly selling these on, within an hour or so at good profit, including all the lower quality ones. We use our own developed drop catching tool which is exceptionally fast and at the moment is working very well indeed for us and improving all the time.
There are so many LLLL.com names no wonder low quality ones are being dropped - and there are so many domain name speculators that there's always somebody to register them in hopes of making a profit. The cycle will go on and on, register - drop - register - drop...
Sorry I do not believe that many LLLL.coms will drop. They will not make it out of the aftermarket. Some people already have their budgets ready for that 2nd november
If they will drop then this is the time to grab them. Will be worth a lot in the future Regards, ASHISH T.
