    that's base64

it appears it's some stupid encryption people apply because they think that will actually accomplish anything

edit: it appears it's not only encrypted with base64, if you give us the whole source, we could easily decript this for you

or, if you see an eval in there somewhere, you should, then just change that to echo

sure we could, but should we ?

is that what this forum is about, to reverse engineer developers intellectual property that most likely violates the licensing ?

    its encoded for a reason.

i would think that should be against the rules here.

this is an ethical forum, or not ?

    it is against the rules.
It is encrypted because of some copyright or secret functions, not because they came up with the idea to make people's life more difficult.

he bought this piece of software, so I think he has a right to see the source code. Looking at the first post, he was obviously surprised at the encryption, meaning that he was pretty much screwed over

Do you use the same logic to get the code for Windows, for example? We don't know *what* he bought... it seems as though it was just a license to use the software, so I think we can assume that if the license allowed looking at and editing the code, the code would have allowed for it!

    I use linux :D

But seriously, if you buy a PHP script and no one tells you that it's encrypted, you expect to be able to alter the source code

One problem I ran into with a script I purchased was that it was encrypted, and the about 6 mos later the script expired. I payed $90 for the full deluxe version, and it was not supposed to expire. The programmer sent me an updated copy, but it expired again, and finally no word from the programmer. So, I was out $90. I did not know it was encrypted until after purchase, and didn't really care, as long as it worked. It's when it quit working I got teed off.

That's where I can see the justification in decrypting a script, if the original publisher vanishes and offers no support. Not for illegal purposes.
