GOOGLE TOOLS REALY WORKING OR NOT Hello friends this is Digant Sharma and here I will be telling you something that you would have never imagined. So as all of you know that Google is the biggest and the most accurate search engine with the best tools that one could imagine. I will be exposing you a lot of tools that are used by almost all the webmasters which don’t work according to what is said by Google itself. Let me start with Google adword keyword tool When I go to google adword keyword tool and search Paper Green this is the current graph Google Keyword Tool Now as you can clearly see that the Approx searches according to google Tool in the month of September are somewhere around 27,100 and average searches are around 33,100. Now when I go to Google and search this term – paper green paper-green search I am getting total 1,84,00,000 search results and as per google adword keyword tracker tool searches related to this keyword are getting a minimum of 27,000 search results. I hope whatever I have written till now you all agree with that. Also check the total searches in another tool provided by google . Google Trends I hope all the web masters and SEO experts know about this tool. So lets search the same keyword in Google Trends and see the results. google trends So now as per all the top SEO like aaron wall , danny sullivan and darren rowse the website ww.papergreen.org should be getting good number of HITS. Now lets compare these three Statistics with another tool by google. Google Analytics I hope all of you might be using this tool till date. google-analytics Now you all can check that one side all the top google tools (Google Adword Keyword Tracker , Google Trends) tells you that this keyword is searched a lot of time which is this month i.e – September 2008 some 27100 times and average searches are 33,100. But the google analytics shows that only 11 people have some to this website from google search and from those 11 only 5 have come using the keyword Paper Green. So now you all can decide how good and updated are google tools nowdays. This is not against google its just to help you all improve your technology. This took a lot of time and research. A lot of things like this are there in google , yahoo and MSN which will be posted by me time to time so hope to see you all back.
Hi Digant.I hope you are good. A nice analysis but somewhere along the line you got it all wrong. Google adword's is designed to check keyword related information like no: of searches and competition level, but is meant for PPC and not organic results. Though people normally use it as an approximation while doing keyword research for organic campaigns. The number of results that shows up for a keyword is a rough approximation of competition. If go beyond 100 results then you would see that the results are mostly irrelevant and not related to the searched keyword. Also the adword tool shows the volume of search which effectively means the number of times the keyword has been searched for and not the number of results it would display in organic listing. Google trends is still in Beta and cannot be relied on as I have found it to be highly inaccurate on many occasions. With Regards to analytics, top ranking does not guarantee high hits or more visitors. It depends on so many other factors, one of them being your description. I may have interpreted you analysis in a different fashion, but i think I have got it right. If I have then I cannot see wrong here, your interpretation of it is skewed (I don't mean to be rude).

Thats what I take from the above information, am I misinterpreting?
It is interesting. But I still have a question here. Since the information from Google Adwords toos, trends provide search volume only. And it does not give us any information about the click through rate or something like that. Another point is that according to the screen shots, the first two results talk about green paper instead of paper green. So does it mean that people search for something else instead of eco-friendly paper when they search for the keyword "paper green". Even if they are search for eco-friendly paper, will the first two results make the visitors start searching for other terms instead of keep exploring this keyword? I guess you may try to explore other key phrases such as FSC, enviromental friendly paper, recycled paper etc. and do the same research before coming to a real conclusion.
can i add to this..that you should select in Google Adword tool where it says Match Type ,set this to: Exact. You have performed the search using: Broad I get search queries per month with the setting on: Exact to be: 140 PER MONTH and so for this to be the case then the site you mention which is getting 11 visitors per month for this search term is correct.

yeah you should have used "exact phrase" to see approximate searches. however, adwords keyword tool is indeed not the best source to rely on in terms of search volume. for example, my keyphrase shows approximately 300 searches a month in adwords tool, when in fact im getting about 50 uniques a DAY coming from google with this exact keyword.
Dude way off.....search results and actual times a word is searched are 2 totally different things....A better tool would be to use the number of time a keyword is searched and compare to the {allintitle:} results: 92,600.
