If you have a fear of speaking in front of people. Memorize what you need to say. And when you are in front of the Audience focus on a light, the brighter the better. Usually lights do the trick.

I feel for you. I'm pretty shy and had to speak at a formal banquet of 300+ people 2 nights ago.

Pick a topic you are interested in, if you have a choice of topics. It's hard to be passionate about something you could care less about. If it interests you, it'll make it easier to share on the topic. Try to lose yourself in the joy of that topic.

I'm not a public speaker too.

But it helps a great deal to choose a topic you know and you love talking about.

What I do is that I come up with a word outline.

Then I write my speech base on that outline.

I then write down my outline on my cue cards just in case I forget how my speech is suppose to go.

Don't go for memorizing the speech.

Just know how you want it to flow and talk from what you know.

    hope this helps.

    well............lol
I received good feedback on my powerpoint. it was well organized ;)

But my speaking skills not so good :(
I was calm up to the point where I began to speak then it all went down hill from there.
I hate it when the nervousness and tension takes control of your body!!!
One good thing is that I was able to establish efficient eye contact with the audience and i felt confident but my body was trembling. I felt as if I was at war with myself.

The prof. also records it on a dvd and we have to evaluate ourselves. (I'll probably get it this tuesday) :p
I'll probably put it up online if you guys could help critque and give input.

Thanks for all the advice, it feels that my problem is probably beyond my control...

I have this problem too, I'll almost start shaking in front of people. I am a very shy person but I've improved recently. Here's how I see it:

    1. The worst thing that can happen is you'll look stupid. I don't think people remember that for very long.
    2. If you do end up looking stupid, just remember it next time and think that you can't do any worse. I found that it took a lot of pressure off of me once I looked at it that way.

I had one one time where I said something that just wasn't true. The instructor caught it and asked me questions for about 2 minutes while I was standing in front of the class blubbering answers at her. She finally said "You're Wrong!" (not exact words) took my little poster and I sat down. The next day I had another presentation (different class) and I did fine.

Eye contact is great. Also, tell a little joke to loosen yourself up a bit at first. If I can get a laugh it makes me feel good.

    - lolz upload to you tube and ill give you the views service lolz
    - congrats somthing is better than nothing my dear
-trembling happens to every one its natural , but i hope you got alot from the discussion
    - secondly many frnds get positive tips by this discussion

    - well my frnd, simple choose few people from the group in front of you and then make eye contact with them
    - try to choose them from every row so that your teacher will not feel any problem in ur eye contact
    - another way is to try practising , moving ur head to every side delivering and thinking of your own points and ur head move automatically
    >> i will do that so i m very much experienced in it
i topped in PSTC ( presentation skill tranining course) thats why i have gone through every point deeply

    good but some mistakes

    - hand movement bro
    - you are taking more help from the piece of paper, it means you havent learnt the presntation and its main content

    - you are not using the multimedia image formed behind you
    - you are discussing and introducing somthing to your class mates , it means they dnt have any idea about it - so you are the person who has to explain each and every thing to them
    conside them as dumb

    - all in all good presentation

    7/10 to you

    - do work on the the above points and feel the difference

    - dnt mind about the some criticism
    - consider me as an elder brother

    regards

I was so dreadful of my public speaking class requirement that I saved (dreaded it) until my senior year. I successfully completed it two semesters ago. Now I don't push prescribed drugs to anybody who doesn't need it, but check with your school's counseling department or some other source for social anxiety med's like Paxil. That is, IF you think your anxiety is uncontrollable and hinders your ability to do your best in class.

    Others suggestions I have are:
    1. Absolutely do not drink anything caffeinated or anything that will only increase your anxiety before giving the speech.
    2. If you have the option to choose do your speech in the middle of everyone else's speech do so. That way many you can see the anxiety of others before you and not feel you are the only with the problem. And not go last thinking you need to finish with a bang.
    3. Most speech classes are basic level classes where if you do the work you get a good grade. Don't feel like you need to give an Oscar acceptance speech, or were just awarded a Nobel. Do it, get it over with, get the grade, and move on.

I did my persuasive speech on the very broad topic of the benefits of spaying and neutering your pets. Lots of sources available online for the topic.

    - pracitising infront of mirror will only give you confidense when you are presenting for your self but infrnt of other people is different

    - your mirror image will not criticise you neither praise you
    - so i feel you will have to practise infront of family members and frnds
