@sweetfunny: So I guess it's all about branding... Make your website(s) profitable and your name known all over the Internet, then people will consider you an expert and pay lots of money for your advices. I have to disagree with this one, Aaron Wall's website ranks at #7 for the keyword "SEO" in Google, which I think is huge, considering Wikipedia takes the first two spots.
I ranked #4 for "SEO" on Google, it's not that hard it took about 3 months and the conversion was pretty ordinary. There's 1000's of terms that are way more profitable then that one, and believe me there's some very skilled people ranking for these terms that nobody has heard of and that's the way they like it. Well known doesn't equal best, and there's thousands of terms i'd rather rank for then SEO. To me the "best" SEO is the one who can generate the most profit from the smallest investment regardless where you rank or what for. A monkey can throw a fist full of money at a term and rank, doesn't make you good. If you can achieve high profits from minimal investment, why work for someone for a percentage of the income when you can own the lot? Aaron has a successful name, he's worked very hard to achieve that and he's a talented SEO and for someone to get to his position will take years. The SEO industry is far more saturated now then when he started, which makes it harder to achieve. If you are good, you will make more optimizing and ranking your own stuff then you will taking low dollar jobs trying to break in to the industry.
I agree (expert in analysis and if you are having passion about learn new things and love to do some research about new techniques than SEO and SEM) be smart brand your self build a website that targets seo lol
SEO Career is good if you can make your own website PR to 5 or more. If you can't do that then forget about providing SEO service.
We can't tell exactly how much can we earn on this field. Earnings would depend on the SEO expert skills. If you know what you're doing and you know your skills you're the only one who can tell if how much would you earn in SEO as a career.
you can be on your own to be an seo. you don't need websites to offer seo services. you can tap the small to medium size market. it is not only for big companies. there are many ways to penetrate this market. earning is stable and lucrative and i don't see it ending soon. as long as there are search engines out there, there will be seo. but you must not limit yourself to seo. keep learning. web2.0, ppc, seo copywriting, etc.
If you are a marketeer, SEO is a great string to have in your bow as the ROI is so good. I've only been in SEO for 6 months and I don't know if I will continue working for an agency. Like its been said if you are really good at SEO you should probably do it for yourself.

search engine out the misers are usually very busy if you intend to make a business of search engine optimization. Should keep one thing in mind you'll need to know a little bit about web design and how to access people's servers. To become a broad spectrum and multilevel search engine optimizer multitasker you'll need to learn a combination of web marketing search engine tweaking keyword density, the percentage of key words that you used in each website or blog page. That's my lesson for the day as a search engine optimizer and the president of my own company I would suggest that you learn a lot more about web marketing is an entire trend in this busy industry. The information age is definitely taking over if you can learn more about web marketing-he will start to see business takeoffs faster.
