Selling my photography online?

Discussion in 'General Business' started by AdzTech.com, Oct 19, 2008.

Hello. I'm looking into selling my photography online, maybe via a website which allows this, but I'm worried they'll take all the money & credit for my photography and I'll end up with like 5% or something like that :(

Has anyone got any advice on this? And if you know any UK based companies which do this without me needing to pay a fee before-hand, then can you possibly share a link?

    Thanks greatly,
    Adam.

I have been looking for a place to sell my pictures for a while as well...

Most companies I have seen charge you for image storage (and the fee can be quite high) or take a huge percentage.

I'm trying Redbubble for now, but my cut is very small.

Try imagekind.com or cafepress.com - I think you can set you own markup and there are no storage fees.

I'm looking for the exact same thing. I've noticed Dreamerr, that imagekind.com is a US business, that's not good for us UK members as it means we earn less because of the conversion rates :(

I know Bob Bly released an e-book about setting up a stock photography business online and selling your pictures, if that's what you're talking about. I forget the actual name of the book, but if you go to his website www.bly.com, and check out the list of products, you should see it there. Most of his stuff is pretty useful.

Use something like Magento and throw up your own website.

they is plenty site that allow u to sell photo with little commission ....
Photo prices basically is base on type 1.Web photo (which u can't make more), Publication(magazine, u will sell by package, exp :the photo is only good for 2000 copy at the size n printed on ....), last sell to advertisement company, they buy the right (but still depend how you nego) :)

    try imagebank (www.gettyimages.com)....

Yes but that 15% can be a lot mentos, I prefer to take 95%-100% as it's my photography, my copyright and I should get the money

If you have big volumes (like 100+ similar pictures) you can sell them on ebay. You can't sell them as "digital" products anymore but you can burn them to cd and sell them that way. I've sold quite a few stock photo volumes on ebay.

Selling photos on ebay is pathetic, people just scam you and expect dirt cheap prices.

create your own site its really not that expensive have someone create it for you. Its easy to get differnet payment processing plans like paypal or alertpay.

Then create a slide show on you tube also post on ebay and get a link to your site through there. As well a press release and a few articles on what you know about photography it could turn out allot better for you.
