Thats why you should always verify the url of the site your on when logging into important places like paypal, ebay, etc. Hackers will set up fake look a like pages to steal you log in information. Also, since paypal is secure the http protocol should display as https://

You should also not click any links that come to your email. Most companies, and I believe paypal is one of them, will NOT email you with problems. If you entered the correct contact information they will call you personally.

Not sure if the above is what happened, but they're good tips to always remember when doing online transactions! ;)

Now a days, scammers are attacking gmails and paypal are been hacking.

Now, the only best way for you is to contact paypal and give them your bank information, your id and everything.

I think they will help you surely.

Because i think no one can remember security questions. It is better to tell them if you added credit card or bank account, so they will help you surely.

I am really very sorry to hear that deanlord, but don't you have anything to find out the hacker. Diid you notice your gmail login history. I mean if the hacker has used your gmail account to hack paypal, then his ip address must be in the gmail login history. I did the same thing to find out where the hacker(in my case) was from.

I don't remember where I read this, but here are some tricks to make your surfing and accounts safer.

    1) Use two browsers on your computer. One for important accounts like Paypal and Gmail and the other browser for normal surfing and other things.
    2) Don't allow your computer to remember your paypal and gmail password.
    3) Protect your computer from spywares by installing a good antivirus.(I don't like antiviruses(don't know why), but from now on I will always have the best antivirus installed on my com).
    4) Run scans and checks if their is something like keylogger.
