Paypal Hacked!!!!

I don't know what happened in the last 9 hrs. First I found I can not log into my gmail account. And when I tried to sign in to Paypal I found my password id not working there also. Around 6 hrs ago, I contacted Google and was able to somehow get the gmail account back. And then I went to paypal lost password page to reset my password. They sent an email for verification and now that verification page is asking for security questions that I have never used. So I contacted paypal and asked them to look into this matter.

However I still have hope that I will get my account back with every single penny in it.

But suggestions will certainly help a lot.

You will, but probably with no money, you will have to set them as unathorized transactions.

    Sorry to hear that.

I have a PayPal account. I never keep more than a few hundred in there and I have a special bank account tied to it that also doesn't have more than a few hundred at any given time.

PAYPAL IS NOT A BANK! YOU CAN LOSE EVERYTHING!

Just hope that the hacker is from another country that way you can be track through your ip address.

And of course if you put the right details there..maybe paypal may resolve this for you

Guys, thanks for all your suggestions.

This is what I did after creating this thread:

I contacted google through email. Google were very fast to suggest what to do next. I was able to quickly reset my password. Then I sent emails to as many paypal contact emails as I could find(on the internet) and told them what all happened and asked them to verify my account without using the security questions(as they were already changed by the hacker). I also found out the ip address of the hacker. Unfortunately, he was very close to me(in my own province). Then in the morning I got an email from paypal saying they had blocked my account and that no payments have been made till now. They also asked me to verify my account by telling them my bank account number which was attached to paypal.
And for the first time after around 18 hrs of struggle I could relax. Now I have reset my password and security questions too.

The only thing left is to get full access to my account(which was blocked by Paypal the whole night saving my money and privacy).

I think now you need to verify your account then only you will get the full access of your account.

Anyway, you lastly get return you paypal and it's money safely.....glad to heard it. Keep changing your password after every 10-15 days. And don't use any easy password....i.e. having your own name, birthday, zipcode, placename etc. Just use strange and critical password.

    LOL

Ignore that idiot. Anyways, consider checking out the PayPal Security key if you are from the USA. I use it and it's probably the best protection out there against hackers

open up disputes in case you have lost money. They will be investigated thoroughly. In case money has moved out from your account, they can immediately put a stop on the same.

Paypal is much safer than any payment processing systems. Please see whether you have any money in your account.

Hi, I live in the UK and i found out that my paypal account had been hacked into this afternoon at 1.28pm.

Paypal emailed me on gmail at 1.29pm saying "We have reason to believe that your account was accessed by a third party." I didn't read this email intill 4.30pm. When i tried to sign in on paypal using my password it didn't work. I clicked on the forgot password link for them to send me an email to reset my password, but this email never came. I then clicked on the forgot email address link. When i entered my information in, it went back to the main page and there was a different email than mine on the paypal home page. That email was: soccermate@live.com. This is when i knew that this soccermate@live.com was the person who hacked into my account.

I phoned up paypal and the woman on the phone was very helpful. She changed the email on my paypal back to my email address. She then said a senior person would phone me back later, maybe on monday but i don't know.

I phoned up my bank to get them to close my account that is linked to my paypal but they couldn't because there was payments pending. They did however cancel my debit card.

Because paypal changed the email back to mine i was able to reset my password and access my account. When i went on my paypal home page, i saw that the hacker had already spent around AU $800 (Australian Dollars) so over £300.

I am just wondering if paypal could get me this money back.

Also if by any coincidence that soccermate@live.com is on this forum they can go to hell :D
