Please review my site colours - is it ok?

I think it looks a bit bland. I want someone to suggest a new colour for the left menu and blank bar under the title.



I've tried a few colours, but I can't find one that works. I need an expert eye

Yeh that looks quite good. I'm having thoughts though whether I should leave it how it is because it is less overpowering.

The reason it looks bland is you have too much whitespace in the header with a boring logo - get bigger logotext and an actual logo picture in there to pad it out a bit more, using the red & blue colour scheme again

What about leaving the top bar there #990000 and making the sidebar almost white, with just a hint of red to set it appart from the background ?

 

Blue color one is also good I feel color #647E99 should be replaced with some brighter color.

I forgot to say before is that the header is just a stand in header. Its not the actual site header.

You site look great with latest color maybe utilize some image at banner so we can look the color blend rightly or not.

The design of your site is bland itself. You will need to make it more interesting..not just colors.

 

you need to spice up your top logo though (i know its just an example), and that blank x, throw in a stock photo to fit that area ... for have a flash image that rotates sports images

the red pops out at you a lot more than the blue

The blue is most important. I'm still thinking of leaving it as the first example in post 1. Yes the grey X is for a flash image.
